Castro’s Torture of American POWs in Vietnam: An Untold Story

Breitbart: The death of communist tyrant Fidel Castro has yielded much-deserved coverage of the monstrous nature of his tyrannical rule.

What has gone virtually unreported, however, is the direct and instrumental role Castro played in the torture and murder of American POWs in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The story of Castro’s atrocities against American soldiers in this conflict is rarely ever told, least of all by our mainstream media.

During the Vietnam War, Castro sent a gang of his henchmen to run the “Cuban Program” at the Cu Loc POW camp in Hanoi, which became known as “the Zoo.” As Stuart Rochester and Frederick Kiley have documented in their book Honor Bound in a chapter entitled “The Zoo, 1967–1969: The Cuban Program and Other Atrocities,” one of the primary objectives of this “program” was to determine how much physical and psychological agony a human being could withstand.

10 Comments on Castro’s Torture of American POWs in Vietnam: An Untold Story

  1. My local paper published multiple articles praising Fidel for all he did for the Cuban people. “Free” education and healthcare. Never mind both were worthless. One columnist actually stated that if Cuba had free and fair elections the last 50 years Castro would have always won. He was a murdering thug and this is one of the few articles that mentions this. It also says something about presidents Carter and Obongo who supported him. Pray that some day the Cuban people will enjoy liberty and freedom again.

  2. I first read about these Cubans torturing our prisoners in North Vietnam in a book about the POWs during the 1980s. The book was by John G. Hubbell, and it was the definitive history of all of the POWs captured in Southeast Asia. It’s a 660 page tome, and it is a great history of American endurance and fortitude. Patriotic Americans must never forget the sacrifices of our servicemen who were prisoners of war in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

  3. This explains the love and accolades Obama piled upon Castro.
Complete alienation of our allies and embracing the enemies of the US.
Rescind US support of Cuba and the murderers who remain in dictatorial control over a people who desire to be free.

  4. Article states it’s suspected some of the torturers may still be living in the US. Where’s McCain on this??? He’s against “torturing” jihadis, but American POW’s, his brothers in captivity, not so much.
