DHS Chief: DOJ Is ‘Targeting and Investigating’ Antifa and BLM Leaders and Those Funding the Riots

PJM: On Monday, Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is “targeting and investigating” the leaders of organizations behind the violent riots in American cities and those who allegedly fund rioters’ interstate travel.

“Do you think the Department of Homeland Security is getting the help it needs from the Justice Department?” Carlson asked. “Why haven’t we seen the leaders of antifa and BLM arrested and charged with conspiracy under RICO like the heads of the mafia families were?”

“Well, this is something that I have talked to [Attorney General Bill Barr] personally about,” Wolf responded. “I know that they are working on it. Look, we have seen about 300 arrests across this country regarding civil unrest and protesting, violent protesting — and I would say criminal protesting.”

Wolf noted that the DOJ has charged 74 individuals with committing federal crimes in Portland alone. “We will continue to see how those investigations are going. Department of Justice is also targeting and investigating the head of these organizations, the individuals that are paying for these individuals to move across the country.” MORE

  1. Cripes! Some of the most well known, largest corps in the world are funding BLM, Inc. It’s a money laundering operation under the Democrat Party. It’ll be a cold day in Hell when the FBI arrest the CEO of Pepsi.

  2. As with the perverted Russia Investigation, the FISA abuse, and the illegal spying of the Trump Team, we are way beyond, “Targeting and investigating”. Until the political will is demonstrated and exercised and the bad guys get punished, it’s all empty rhetoric. Worse than that is is a slap in the face of all those that cherish and respect the rule of law.

And,”300 arrests across the country” mean nothing if appropriate fines and jail sentences are not meted out, something we have yet to see.

I hate to shoot actions thru the political prism of expediency but it is in Trump’s interest to essentially do nothing and let the mobs burn down city after city driving more and more voters into his camp. A good way to get re-elected but it is off the backs of good people who’s lives get destroyed in the process.

  3. @Rich Taylor — ” A good way to get elected but it is off the backs of good people who’s lives get destroyed in the process.”

And that’s the conundrum. If the president does not invoke the Insurrection Act (which he quite easily could do), many will be faced with one of two choices: “Do I take up arms against these anarchists and try to protect my property and livlihood with the risk of being killed, or do I plunge myself and family into poverty because my business is destroyed.” And what if despite trying to protect their business they are killed and their business is destroyed?

POTUS Trump told several business owners in Kenosha that the federal government was going to step in and “help” them rebuild their businesses, were going to “give them a lot of help.” But what is the taxpayer cost to rebuild all the destroyed businesses? And wouldn’t it make more sense to use the military and police assets we’re already paying for to preclude the destruction? And beyond that, what of the safety and security of the many Americans who have been killed and seriously hurt by anarchists? I don’t see how federal troops under the Insurrection Act can be withheld in good conscience. I think it would be a bad move to act or to not act guided by the best political outcome.

  4. Im impressed, NOT!

DOJ investigated GWB’s girl Lerner. Yes she broke many laws. She will get a stern letter in her file. And be based from IRS for years!

America needs SERIOUS prosecution! Investing is a waste of $; as is bogus prosecution.
UNIPARTY will protect them; as it did her!

  5. @AbigailAdams- ” I don’t see how federal troops under the Insurrection Act can be withheld in good conscience”, you are making my point for me, is there a political component to the withholding?

States Rights must be honored, it is the responsibility of the city, then the state to police the streets and keep the citizens safe. Trump said as much himself, he needs the governors to ask for Federal assistance but so far they have been reluctant to even muster their own state National Guards, which they have the power to do.

“I think it would be a bad move to act or to not act guided by the best political outcome.” And yet it is the motivating factor time and time again. What is that old dem saying about letting a tragedy go to waste? Trump is doing it himself right now by promising Federal dollars to help the police dept and small businesses in the area, this is the responsibility of the city and the state. Rewarding bad behavior only encourages and begets more bad behavior, it tells the Ted Wheelers, the Jenny Durkins, and the Lori Lighfoots out there that when the mob wants your city streets, give it to them, stand down your police departments and let your city burn, after the smoke settles the Federal government can always be squeezed to pay for your bad decisions.

  6. “Big Money, Connections to Top Democrats

Claiming to be America’s second-largest private foundation, the Ford Foundation has poured almost $2 billion into groups active in “disrupting systems to advance social justice,” according to its grant database.

The Ford Foundation boasts key members of the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris campaign as alumni executives. Harris’s sister and ex-campaign chairwoman Maya Harris served as the Ford foundation’s vice president alongside Biden’s now senior advisor, Cristóbal Alex, who served as its program director during the Obama presidency.

Some of Obama’s top staffers are now Ford Foundation’s top staffers. Taara Rangarajan, now Ford’s chief of staff, served as Obama’s national security advisor from 2013-2016. Before that, she served as a special assistant to Susan Rice during the Benghazi affair. Another Ford exec, Xavier de Souza Briggs, served as President Obama’s associate director of the Office of Management and Budget.”

  7. @Rich Taylor — Yes, I understand the 10A, and it has been a cornerstone of Trump’s administration. However, the Insurrection Act has been invoked numerous times for times exactly like today. We haven’t had the need in the intervening years, but Bush invoked it in 1992 to quell the rioting in Los Angeles following the Rodney King verdict. It’s been used almost equally by both Dem and Repub presidents throughout time; almost always to quell terrible violence, arson and rioting in cities and states governed by Democrats who sat on their hands while their cities burned and blameless citizens suffered great loss at the hands of instigators.

I do not think it is right for politicians to sacrifice the lives and livelihoods of unfortunate citizens who are, through no fault of their own, in the path of this destruction.

I just read this morning that state police have been deputized by the U.S. Marshall’s office in Oregon. I didn’t know that could be done, but I’m glad. Now, one can hope, that with the backing of the Feds, the good people of Portland will get some relief and the bad guys will actually get prosecuted.

  8. This “investigation” needs to move faster than the glacial speed we usually see in D.C. Crimes are happening daily and will only get worse until they are stopped. Stop the money and the crimes will decline.
