Dodge Ends Gas Powered Muscle Cars for Electric Car of the Future

The Detroit News

It’s official: Dodge is ending production of the Challenger and Charger in their current form in December 2023 ahead of the launch of its all-electric muscle car in 2024.

To help customers who want one of the gas-powered vehicles with a “Last Call” underhood plaque, Stellantis NV’s performance brand in October will have on its website the details of where vehicles will be allocated for the final year of production and how many each dealer will receive through the rest of the run. The inventory of unsold vehicles will be updated weekly, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said. Pricing for the 2023 model year has yet to be shared. More

  1. EVs have torque, gobs of it, right now. We’re talking 0-60 in under 3 seconds and sub 10 second ETs for cars in street trim.
But I don’t care. If it don’t use gas they can kiss my ass.

  2. How idiotic. There are literally millions of Challengers and Chargers on the road. They were/are the most successful Chrysler products since the minivan. Police departments all across the country use them. So let’s just scrap the whole thing and go all in for EVs.

  3. Whenever I walked into a Dodge/Chrysler/Ram dealership I always felt Dirty.

I voice in the back of my mind would always say, “Don’t even think about buying this Shit.”

GM was similar but much less so.

Ford was better. I knew it was not Toyota & Honda but I was Buying 3/4 ton E-250 vans & F-150’s. They made me money & were reliable.

Subaru, on the other hand, No guilt, shame, or regret. I knew I wasn’t paying $4,000 more than the other guy and the product speaks for itself.

My wife & son LOVE the 2014 Subaru and both HATE the Irritating Motherfucker Shitbox Cadillac Jerkoff-mobile that we were “Given” by my mother-in-law when her eyesight was no longer acceptable for her to drive. We keep it in good shape as a sigh of respect to her but WHAT A FUCKING SHITBOXXXX! $$$$$$ in the toilet.

  4. Rich Taylor,

The EU is going to have to keep warm by FISTING Themselves This winter.

I hope Trump & DeSantis Turn America Around AND FUCKIN DRILL BABY DRILL!

The USA/North America has a “YUGE” energy advantage over the rest of the world & could out manufacture the rest of the world if we would just stop shooting ourselves in the foot on ENERGY & SJW Bullshit.

    Cheers.

Nothing a new change in leadership won’t fix. Mumbles Biden and Castro’s son gotta go.

When you look at the oil reserves, natural resources, productive farmland, timber, fisheries, and natural gas deposits, North America could be totally self-sustaining, minus the dependency on shit from China. It is criminal what those bonehead oligarchs are doing to our continent.

  7. And the dealers are going to Increase the “additional dealer mark-up” on these “future collector items” and the fools will pay it. Remember in the 70s, the same thing happened to the “last of the Cadillac convertibles “. Yeah, how did that work out? Paid ridiculous mark-up for a POS that would never be worth more. Right now idiots are lining up to pay $10k over sticker for an already over-priced Bronco.

One of my relatives had a Demon with a 340 in it. I got to use it for a week while my fucked up foreign car was in the shop. Damn it was fun!

  9. Ain’t it the Truth
Growing up I had a 70 340 Duster. Had it down to high 11’s in the quarter. A daily driver. I miss the simplicity of that power. I want to build a 69 Dart 4 speed car.
A box stock 4 speed A body 340 will give a Hellcat a run for it’s money in the quarter, often times beating them.

  10. I drive a 2010 E63 AMG. 525 HP, 8 speed auto but with 3 sport modes. You can buy a 2011 for somewhere north of $10,000; for the life of me I don’t now why anyone would want to build an old model car when you can get one of those bad boys. 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds.

  11. Sad. Just 2 1/2 years ago I was Hell-bent on buying a 600 HP Hellcat.

With gas prices now so high, my dreams of owning a Hellcat have gone to Hell.

To Hell with the government that forced prices so high by cancelling the Keystone and taxing gasoline so much to pay for their inhuman schemes. Bastards all of them, local, state, and federal.
