The price of a dozen eggs in California has reached nearly $9 per dozen in some areas, as demand continues to rise amid an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza, or bird flu.
In its overview of egg markets last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said the California benchmark for large shell eggs rose $0.78 to $8.97 per dozen, due to a reduction in supply.
Those prices can be seen when shopping online for eggs at supermarkets across the state.
For instance, Walmart in Chico, California, on Tuesday night listed an 18-count carton of Great Value Cage-free Large White Eggs for $9.52, while a dozen of the same type of eggs from Great Value were listed at $7.22. more here
Wow.
I don’t expect prices to go up here in SC, I have been paying about $3/dozen for jumbo size.
I thought $3.00 a dozen was bad.
Up coming bargain price?
They’d better be OOOH-AHHH eggs!
(the sound the chicken makes when the egg is laid)
I’m looking forward to our eggs going up because the wicked bitch and her minions think we are stupid enough to think “cage free” means jack s**t.
$4.30 a dozen for Wegmans store brand eggs in NY.
Hold my beer and watch this– eggs where I live are ON SALE for $9, reduced from $11.
Just make the chickens wear masks, duh.
$4.25 in canuck bucks for a dozen jumbo double yolkers in the Six.
Democrats in Michigan passed a law to make eggs cost more by giving it a fancy name called cage free.I looked at several cartons of eggs that were organic, cage free.
Can’t tell the difference.
Asked some local chickens what they thought but none could give a intelligent answer.
Same with the politicians.
Trader Joes sells eggs for $3.49 a dozen while Winco has the first dozen eggs at nearly $ 5 dollars a dozen and any second dozen eggs for $9.22 in Spokane which is obscenely overpriced. I will continue to buy eggs at TJ’s and not at Winco until the prices come way down.
I paid $18.00 for an 18 pack two days before Christmas. The next day every store around here was out. They’re still really low on inventory.
Nothing like paying a buck and a quarter for one egg, sheesh what a ripoff.
Actually, it’s a buck and a half.
Fred Meyer in Yakima went from $10 to $13 for an 18 pack just after Christmas. They also had the balls to put a “low price” sticker on them.
Are we seriously going to believe the “avian flu” lies? You do know that the same type of “non-diagnostic” PCR testing is being used that was used to CREATE the Covid plannedemic…right?
I’m confused. I thought that in California you could steal eggs as long as the price didn’t exceed 950 dollars.
amid an outbreak of highly psychological avian influenza, or bird flu.
FIFY
Went to Food Lion this morning in SE VA. Egg section was completly empty.
^^^^^
Safeway here in NorCal filled up the egg section with Eggnog. I’m not sure I can fry Eggnog over easy. No eggs. Out.
Buy local for fucks sake. “organic” eggs in Port Angeles are $9+ for 18 at W/M. Local are $3-4/dozen. Better eggs too, no soybean feed.
All part of the Biden Administration’s Operation: “Burn it Down before January 20th”. Reduce the egg supply with fake bird flu epidemic – kill chickens to “reduce the spread” *sigh* and mysterious fires destroying large chicken farms.
Artificially reducing egg supply, while the demand stays the same or increases, then – “Guess what?” the price of eggs soar. All according to plan.
