Former CIA Director, John Brennan, Calls For A Coup If Trump Fires Mueller

In the most vocal opposition to president Donald Trump yet, former CIA Director John Brennan said that if the White House tries to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, government officials should refuse to follow the president orders, as they would be – in his view – “inconsistent” with the duties of the executive branch.

“I think it’s the obligation of some executive branch officials to refuse to carry that out. I would just hope that this is not going to be a partisan issue. That Republicans, Democrats are going to see that the future of this government is at stake and something needs to be done for the good of the future,” Brennan told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer at the Aspen Security Forum, effectively calling for a coup against the president should Trump give the order to fire Mueller.

    According to 18 U.S. Code § 2385, Advocating overthrow of Government, “Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government” could face charges.

  30. Why does Brennan go straight to coup? Even Muddy Maxine Waters is only talking impeachment. Is the impeachment process too slow and democratic for him? At a bare minimum, he should be explaining his comments in an interrogation room. In fact, he should be awaiting trial in a jail cell.

    Remember all that bullshit about Trump’s poor temperament and proper decorum?

    I think from Trumps perspective he was under the impression he was hiring a Pit Bull and ended up with a Poodle. But Trump also knows if he had a Pit Bull in that position it would take a ton of pressure off him. Bad hire. His first.

  39. I know all the fat, lazy, old, “loyal” Americans are going to keep rolling their eyes — since that’s all the effort, blood, or treasure they’re willing to expend — but a coup is needed. The only treatment for Columbia’s cancer requires “genuine” Nazi self-fueling crematoria. And the boxcars (plural) required to feed them. “Let’s agree to disagree” — that we’ll loot, rape, and loot again, our mutual enemy, the peasants — will never end, until the parasite is excised from the host. One or the other will perish. But that will happen, anyway. The only question is if the host is to have an, any, opportunity to survive. That is impossible while the parasite survives. But the host is too fat, lazy, old — and loyal — to roll off the couch, until the parasite acts against it, personally. Proof that it intends to kill the host, is insufficient to rouse any activity — that train left the station years ago. Proof that the parasite intends to kill every host in it’s path is insufficient until it has already smashed down a “loyal” American’s own door. The neighbors’ doors — all up the road — don’t prove ill intent toward the fat, lazy, old, “loyal” American, in particular.

    So, welcome the coup — from within. At least it removes the lie that you’re a “loyal” American — when you can no longer pretend the America you claim loyalty to exists, any longer. Fat, lazy, and too old to care, nobody else can help you with.

  40. Brad — Sessions was true blue to Trump and one of the heavy hitters in Congress to support him at a time when it meant a heck of a lot. He also was an able surrogate for him on the stump. Geoff C. and I have been talking about this a lot. Something’s happened we don’t know about. Sessions is not a poodle. Something’s changed him.

  43. Rule of Law is why we don’t string people like him up from lamposts with piano wire. He should think carefully before suggesting that we abandon it.

    I have no idea what type of AG he was for Alabama. If something did happen, if he’s been rendered ineffective, he should step down. Sessions is the guy Trump is relying on for offense. He’s got zip, allowing people that should be prosecuted to continually be on the offensive towards Trump and slow his agenda. No matter the reason for his passiveness Sessions has to go.
