Pit Bull Dies After Protecting Young Children From Snake Bite
Fox 13 – SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) – The Richardson family said goodbye to their hero this week.
Their eight-month-old pit bull, Zeus, died while protecting two of the family’s children from a coral snake. The snake bit the dog instead.
“I knew when he first came in that something was wrong and (it) was very traumatic because I knew he was dying,” Gary Richardson said.
It happened Monday as the boys were outside the family’s home in Sumter County cleaning the dog’s water dish. They didn’t even see the snake coming.
“All of a sudden, he started attacking the snake which was close to my son and he was bit four times,” Gary Richardson said.

Poor thing. My Pit attacks only 3 known things: squirrels, deer, and white dogs. She is racist. I would feel very empty if she turned up dead, our 6 year relationship still grows daily.

Interesting because it is my understanding
a coral snakes has it’s poison fangs all the
way to the back of the mouth.They literally have
to gnaw on you awhile to deliver venom.
I hate seeing animals suffer; especially dogs.

A Coral Snake needs to chew on your ass for a while to inject venom. I hate to wreck the violins and what ever. I hate to see any dog die. Plus I understand that venom can be painful.
