President Trump signed a declaration in the Oval Office this afternoon to make Sunday a National Day of Prayer for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Trump and the First Lady will head back to Texas and Louisiana tomorrow to assess the damage and the recovery efforts.
“We’re working on emergency funding,” the president said in response to a question on a federal aid package for victims.
Pastor Robert Jeffress, of First Baptist Church in Dallas, then led a prayer for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and for the president and vice president.
“Father, I thank you that we have a president who believes in the power of prayer,” said Jeffress.
Jeffress prayed for “spiritual healing” in the country, calling the United States “bitterly divided for decades upon decades.”
“Now you have given us a gift. President Donald Trump, who wants to bring healing to this country and he is bringing healing to this country,” he said.

As it should be. Now, more than ever we need to hold onto faith.
I just love, love, LOVE this man!
Trigger warning! They prayed in Jesus’ name! Safe spaces are already overflowing!
I can hear the MSM head explosions, now, “BASTARD!”
Gads, I love this President. He just plows through the MSM bat she of 🐂💩, like a Humvee on steroids!
“Bat she”???? Siri, its barrage! Damn lib Siri.
We’re not a country as proud of our belief in God and prayer as we were when I was a kid. But the 2017 Superbowl made me a believer again.
Who can forget the halftime score: Falcons led the Patriots 21 to 3.
Lady Gaga was scheduled to perform the halftime show and, given her nasty comments about President Trump and the attitude of entertainment in general, a Christian group led a movement to pray for Trump instead of watching Lady Gaga.
Seems when people prayed for America and all her patriots the sports team got the benefit.
Final score: Patriots 34, Falcons 28.
Setting aside time to pray Sunday can’t hurt and may produce some miracles.
AMEN! I’ve been praying that he would call for a National day of prayer for Houston and the entire nation this Sunday. I’m in, I can’t imagine hellary ever doing such a thing.
Amen. Do the right thing. President Trump seems to find a way to do just that.
God bless you sir!
We’re in! Thank you mister and missus Trump. Thank you dear Jesus. Please have mercy on all those victims.
Yes, pray on Sunday for all the victims of Harvey…
…AND…
…pray everyday that our Great Creator continues to imbue President Trump with wisdom, patience and the intelligence needed to govern the USA. Pray also for him and his entire family…that they all remain SAFE in these trying days.
And remember…you don’t need to be on your knees or even in a church to pray…you can do this ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!!!
Now they’ll try to impeach him for a public prayer.
This was a very touching event in the oval. I get chills up my spine to see these very open displays of worship and entreating God for His mercy and blessings at the highest office of the land.
