Breitbart: San Francisco has more intravenous drug users than high school students, according to a San Francisco news outlet. “Injection drug users” outweigh high schoolers by more than 50 percent according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
According to a report from the Chronicle, San Francisco now has more intravenous drug users than high school students. San Francisco, which operates 15 high schools, currently has 16,000 students enrolled grades nine through twelve.
By comparison, the northern California city currently has 24,500 “injection drug users.” That is approximately 8,500 more drug users than high school students.
It’s not entirely clear why San Francisco has such a high concentration of drug users. Health directors in the San Francisco Bay Area argued that the popular stems from the nationwide issues with opioids. When prescription pills either run out or become too expensive, many addicts turn to intravenous alternatives.
“As to why people use drugs, that is a complicated question, and there are many factors,” Health Department spokeswoman Rachael Kagan said in a comment to the San Francisco Chronicle. “Our focus is on saving lives and lowering the barriers to treatment.”
San Francisco has started offering free syringes to drug addicts, in an effort to eradicate the transference of disease. The city handed out a whopping 5.8 million free syringes in 2018. MORE

It’s because the rent is too damn high. A (free) needle stuck in your arm hanging out on the streets with livable temperatures is a way cheaper than finding a place to settle down. Plus there is a bathroom on every corner and free handouts all over the place. There’s a lack of incentive to take care of yourself, especially with an over abundance of virtue signalling as liberals fight for social credit.
Simple. Because you have to be on drugs to want to live there.
I’ve been visiting San Francisco all my life. I used to consider it to be one of the World’s greatest cities. I can still remember how it started to change when the mentally ill people started sleeping in the doorways of upscale stores and on public park benches. Soon there were lunatics screaming on every corner and beggars bumming change all over the heart of the City by the Bay. Then the homosexualists took over the Castro District and started parading around asserting their perversity in public. It’s just gotten worse now that it is going on thirty years without any common sense in government. The lunatics are running the Asylum by the Bay now.
San Francisco is that way because the powers that be want it that way. Follow the money.

Last time I was in SF was 20 years ago. Took the BART from Concord to Market St. Went up to street level, took one look around, and went right back down and took the next train back to Concord. What a shithole. Little did I know it was only a preview of coming attractions. Coming to a blue city near you.
