School district apologizes after teacher bans ‘Make America Great Again’ shirts

WaEx:

A Georgia school district superintendent has apologized to students who were told by their high school math teacher they couldn’t wear their “Make America Great Again” shirts in her classroom.

“Her actions were wrong, as the ‘Make America Great Again’ shirts worn by the students are not a violation of our School District dress code,” Cherokee County Schools spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an emailed statement.

The River Ridge High School math teacher was captured on video Thursday telling two students their President Trump apparel was not acceptable clothing because the campaign slogan has been linked to neo-Nazis in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Va.

  1. At the minimum she should be made to stand infront of each of her classes and apologize and reiterate that the kids did not violate the dress code and that her opinion does not set the rules. Then a letter of reprimand goes into her file.

  2. I am surprised this happened in Cherokee County because I am pretty sure that is a very “red” county and most likely leans heavily pro-Trump. But you can find crazy leftist socialist moonbats everywhere.

  3. That and a couple mil(lion) should be adequate recompense for harboring an antifa terrorist in the school district. Just because she wasn’t wearing a mask and hitting kids, doesn’t mean she wasn’t committing a violent act.

  4. Wouldn’t it be nice if teachers would quit with their politics and sexual deviancy and just do their friggin jobs?!

The literacy rates of graduates and the falling test score on ever easier tests show conclusively that they should be spending more not less time teaching their subjects.

  5. ANGRY MOBS.

That’s the only thing that causes the police to change rules, courts to do their job, government to hurry the hell up.

Schools monitor every decision to see if there is an angry mob reaction or not. That’s all they respect. The principal and superintendent are trying to MAKE IT TO RETIREMENT, and they will can anyone they need to can in order to make it. That’s their Achilles heel.

  6. “I am surprised this happened in Cherokee County…”

I have lived on the border of Churkey County for twenty years, in two different locations, and it doesn’t surprise me in the least. For a northern metro suburban/exurban county, Churkey exhibits some remarkably urban and progressive pathologies, very similar to what one might find in supposedly decent middle-class communities in the wasteland of south Fulton County. I don’t hold out much hope for improvement in either area.
