Scientists have successfully taught a collection of human brain cells in a petri dish how to play the video game “Pong” — kind of.

Researchers at the biotechnology startup Cortical Labs have created “mini-brains“ consisting of 800,000 to one million living human brain cells in a petri dish, New Scientist reports. The cells are placed on top of a microelectrode array that analyzes the neural activity.

“We think it’s fair to call them cyborg brains,” Brett Kagan, chief scientific officer at Cortical Labs and research lead of the project, told New Scientist. More

  1. Lends support to the ID theory. Intelligence created the information and the scientists imparted it to the brain cells. The scientists had to teach the brain cells what to do. The brain cells did not get it from any natural law.

  2. Ah, petri dishes. Are they still looking for Covid-19 virus in one of those?. Last time I’ve heard that pong match was between very nasty strain of Covid and brain cell of very well known person by the cover name Brandon. Guess who was winning?
