CNBC – U.S. East and Gulf Coast port workers are set to go on strike at midnight on Monday with no talks currently scheduled to head off a stoppage threatening to halt container traffic from Maine to Texas and cost the economy as much as $5 billion a day.
The labor contract between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) union representing 45,000 port workers and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) employer group expires late Monday, with negotiations at an impasse over pay.
A port strike will go ahead starting Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. ET, the ILA said on Sunday. The USMX “refuses to address a half-century of wage subjugation,” the union said in a statement on Sunday. more
Gosh, they only want a 70% raise.
Their desired rise is merely 70%.
The union leader uses Marxist vocabulary and is making demands he knows cannot be accepted.
The Dems must be desperate, creating a bidenomic crisis for an early October surprise…though I’m not sure how they think they benefit from appearing ineffective, distant and callous. Oh. Right. They’ll blame it on Trump.
Wouldn’t it be funny (not haha funny) if they replaced them with illegal aliens?
70% raise over 6 years. Nothing like leaving out an important piece of info…
I haven’t and won’t do the research on how many raises, and what they were, over the life of the union.
But, in this f’d up economy it might be devastating for those who actually work for a living and have families to provide for.
I am no fan of unions as they don’t readily allow increased wages for people that work their ass off which in turn encourages laziness. But a strike now of this magnitude would result in people being laid off in a multitude of indrusties.
And yes, the union has the USMX and our country over a barrel, and they know it.

Fire them all and hire illegal aliens for five bucks an hour with no benefits. After all, that’s what the union toadies voted for.
