I know Canada proposed storing it just inland of Lake Huron. What could go wrong.

Ask yourself why. Why would this administration want to restart a nuclear powerplant? I suspect that something is being withheld from us, like an ulterior motive. It sure as hell isn’t to supply electricity.

The solution is LFTR – Liquid Thorium Thermal Reactor.
They can run the waste uranium though the reactor and fully deplete it.
