Why God Is a He

Is God a man, a woman, or a genderless force that cannot be identified by masculine or feminine traits? Society offers a range of ideas, but what do religious texts have to say about this immutable characteristic of God? Dennis Prager offers some insightful answers.

  1. as a recovering catholic I am comfortable imaging G-d as He.
…….as far as ‘I am the alpha & omega’ goes, the current alphabet is more than twice the size as when that was said.

  2. Not got time to watch the video because Prager denies Christ, but I recall reading once the references to God in the O.T. are active, therefore rendered as masculine, not passive, as would be denoted by the feminine.

Anyway, what’s important is that while God is spirit (John 4:24) and so is utterly above and beyond all our created concepts of sex, He is nevertheless a man of war (Exodus 15:3). The world is going to be reminded of that fact with fire, sooner than later.

  3. …kind of a tangent, but I like P.J. O’Rourke’s take on the nature of God, even if he DID get stupid about President Trump in his later years…

“I have only one firm belief about the American political system, and that is this: God is a Republican and Santa Claus is a Democrat.

God is an elderly or, at any rate, middle aged male, a stern fellow, patriarchal rather than paternal and a great believer in rules and regulations. He holds men accountable for their actions. He has little apparent concern for the material well being of the disadvantaged. He is politically connected, socially powerful and holds the mortgage on literally everything in the world. God is difficult. God is unsentimental. It is very hard to get into God’s heavenly country club.

Santa Claus is another matter. He’s cute. He’s nonthreatening. He’s always cheerful. And he loves animals. He may know who’s been naughty and who’s been nice, but he never does anything about it. He gives everyone everything they want without the thought of quid pro quo. He works hard for charities, and he’s famously generous to the poor. Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one: There is no such thing as Santa Claus.”

  4. …on a side note, SJWs criticize HIS word, the Bible, as “not being gender inclusive” because it uses masculine pronouns. If they spent any time actually LEARNING something, like another language to be bitter in, then they would know that Romance languages like Latin (and descendant languages like their beloved Spanish) use masculine pronouns by default and that any group of people that is not exclusively female is referred to in the masculine, whether children or adults. Not American rules, not even English rules, but ones by the foreign cultures that they love so much.

But learning is HARD, but being a douche is EASY, so here we are…

  5. Santa Claus is a type [representation] of Antichrist designed to deceive children.

*Omniscient – knows the deep secret things of any heart.
*Omnipotent – judges all, is able to reward or punish anyone.
*Omnipresent – able to be everywhere at once, or at least over the course of a few hours of one night.

Santa Claus rewards/punishes mere good or bad behavior without actually condemning sinfulness nor appealing to holiness and righteousness. The character does everything Christ does/will do, but without His deity or reference to Hell. So Santa is not threatening, thus more palatable to the world than Christ.
