The victim has been identified as Carrie Jean Melvin, age 30.
Even though police are desperately asking for help from the public, the article below -and media broadcast- does not give a full description of the suspect. To find that out, yet again, you’d have to scour around:
On July 5, 2015, around 10:12 p.m., Hollywood Area officers responded to a radio call of a shooting in the area of Sunset Boulevard and McCadden Place. Officers found that a female in her 30s had been shot while walking with her companion on McCadden Place toward Sunset Boulevard when an unidentified male Black approached on foot and shot the victim. It’s called “situational awareness”. Seriously, if you walk like prey, you will be prey to someone. If your head ain’t on a swivel, if you ain’t making eye contact and “looking into people” and noting who is looking at you without seeming to really look at you, then you ain’t aware of your surroundings. If you aren’t looking into the dark, watching for movement, making note of things that aren’t just quite right, that are out of place or just suspicious, you are not in the proper frame of mind. Finally, if you aren’t armed, stay out of inner cities and/or any place that ain’t policed, locked down and secured.
Yeah, it’s a jungle out there, and unless you are prepared to look like one of the predators, if you don’t affect “the look” you might just be a victim.
