RIP Eagles lead Guitarist and Co Founder: Glenn Frey

via USAToday The band’s website posted the news late Monday under the heading, “It Is With The Heaviest of Hearts That We Announce …”
and then continued “…the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016.

Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery.

Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.”

Frey was 67.

  1. I’ve updated the video with your suggestion of Tequila Sunrise.
I heard the news today and thought, “what is going on?!?”

    Sad. *sigh*

John Mellencamp better stop smoking those cigs.

  2. Thank you Lord for allowing us to enjoy the gifts of music and song through Glenn Frey.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

  3. To each our own opinion but “Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona such a fine sight to see. It’s a girl my Lord in a flat bed Ford slowin’ down to take a look at me” are some of the great lyrics of my time. RIP to a great artist

  4. One of my favorite groups. Knocked off a bucket list item a few years ago by seeing them in person.

Maybe some of the highest notes were lower, but they put on an awesome show. And yes, Joe Walsh was in attendance and amazing.

On a light note – When my youngest was around 9-10 months old (she’s now 31), as soon as she heard the first notes of “The Heat Is On” she would start laughing, kicking her legs and flailing her arms. Beat anything you see on youtube today. 🙂

RIP Glenn Frey. You gave so many millions years of joy.

  5. The past drug abuse and his immunologic problems took a very heavy toll. He was physiologically much older than his stated age….as we say in the hospital: he was 67…in dog years….

  6. Saw Eagles in concert in 2003 and it was AMAZING. They’re my favorite band, so I love a lot of their songs, but One of These Nights is probably tops. Seven Bridges Road, Hotel California, Desperado, Lyin’ Eyes, Best of My Love, Life in the Fast Lane, Heartache Tonight, Those Shoes, Get Over It, New Kid in Town… so many great tunes. RIP Glenn. 🙁
