The White House says President Donald Trump is pledging $1 million in personal funds to Harvey storm relief efforts.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made the announcement at a briefing Thursday.

And she says he’s calling on reporters to help decide which specific organization he will give to.

Trump has been criticized in the past for giving far less of his income to charitable causes than many other multi-billionaires.

Harvey’s flood waters have heavily damaged tens of thousands of homes across Texas and killed at least 30 people. The storm is now threatening the region near the Texas-Louisiana state line.

  9. Wow, that’s a horrible stunt. Just give the million dollars. Why advertise it? Shameful if you ask me. Now that the dollar is worth 15% less than when he took office. Horrible economy we live in.

  24. To begin, PDJT normally does not announce donations to charity–shows exactly how much the self-righteous assaholic press know about him.

    Secondly, the figure of one million probably came about because several celebrities are donating that amount and to get the press to ‘shut up’ (good luck with that!) BUT…I would wager PDJT is actually donating a LARGER amount–he is ‘private’ that way!!!

  27. This should be structured like the matching pledges on PBS –based on how much each reporter is donating. Oh, and is this amount more or less than Hillary and/or her Clinton Foundation is donating?

    I went to Oregon.com and couldn’t find the article on his donation. I searched “Trump donation” there and got a few hit pieces on Trump.
