  1. Weird, I was just reading an article, not an hour ago, about the old made-for-tv Frankenstein movie with Michael Sarrazin and James Mason. He was in it, briefly. Have never seen the cartoon.

  2. He was the only actor to appear as Cleggy in every episode of the 30+ year run of “Last of the Summer Wine”. If you are not familiar with it, get up to speed. Very funny series.

  3. Very sad his passing. I watched some episodes of W&G on hulu(when it was free)several years ago after having bought the dvd of Chicken Run, it being done by the same people. Anyone that has not seen Chicken Run should, it’s a great family flick with nods to famous classic POW flicks, and the work that goes into making this type claymation stuff is amazing. They spend a whole day just to get maybe 6 seconds of film. As a young-un in the 60s I liked the Thunderbirds series, also amazing for the work they put into it’s production. A guy named Bruce Bickford did some great stuff, some for Zappa back in the 60s and 70s. The artistry and moreover the patience it must take for those people to conceive and produce something so fun for us to enjoy is something I admire greatly.

  4. I loved Sallis’s work. Even to this day, if I want to embarrass my wife in public, I just shake my fists over my chest and say in a faux Brit accent, “Cheese, Gromit, we’ll go somewhere where there’s cheese!”

His performances on “Last of the Summer Wine” were off the chart. Dad used to watch that whenever it was on and giggle like a school boy. Good stuff. Talent like Sallis’s doesn’t exist any more.

  5. Oh. Oh, no… 🙁
Well, 96 years is a long time to live I suppose… this is just so terribly sad though. God be with his family.

(Does this mean no more Wallace and Gromit?)
