Accelerating California’s business exodus

Washington Times: California Gov. Jerry Brown’s signing Tuesday of what is billed as the nation’s toughest equal pay law drew loud applause but also alarm over the additional government regulation threatening to accelerate the state’s business exodus — with implications for Tinseltown too.

The California Fair Pay Act strengthens the state’s existing equal-pay law by forbidding employers from paying employees less than their opposite-sex counterparts for “substantially similar work,” not just “equal work” — a far more subjective and thus litigation-friendly standard. It also prohibits employers from retaliating against those who seek to raise their pay under the law.  more here

  1. ““substantially similar work”

How hard do you think the lawyers (who will now never be out of work) lobbied for that phrasing?

California, where I grew up, was once the golden state. Now it is all but unrecognizable. Soon, it will be recognizable again, but mostly as a failed banana republic with some nice beaches.

  2. Every step Sunbeam takes Cali down the dirt road is that much closer to becoming Tijuana Norte, Republic de Mexico.. When the Moonbeamites finally petition and secede to Mexico, it will be a joy over the rest of whats left of the USofA.

  3. His and the liberals’ policies have dried up the state with the lack of new (over the last 30 years) dams and reservoirs; imposition major environmental choke holds on growth and development, allowed the state to become almost bankrupt, the 49th worst public education out of the 50 states, and now this along with so much else. Its almost as if the environmentalist whackbirds that own the Capital are getting their wish: a major reduction in population. They are digging the exodus. Jerry is God.

  4. This is suicide!
The second largest industry here in CA is porn (the largest is pot).
Male porn stars make next to nothing, as a matter of fact many work for free, while the women are paid handsomely.
What about the fluffers? They do essentially the same job, get paid little, and don’t even get the fame of being on camera.
Without the porn industry the last vestige of once great CA will disappear.

  5. The only reason the marijuana growers stay is because they are outside of the law. There is NOTHING they have to do to comply with ANY business law. They’re protected in the negative sense. The liberals love them and know that any anti-business law they pass will have no direct effect on them. Eventually, the indirect effects will hurt them severely. As for citizens moving out — that is irrelevant to the ‘tards; they have a virtually unlimited supply of undocumented democrats just across our southern border.
