I’ll have to disagree on your two points above. The outsourcing is a business decision, whether out to the 50 states or internationally, the point is to have everyone with skin in the game and nobody gets strong enough to challenge Boeing on the international market.
Additionally, Boeing has some extremely talented individuals, comparable to the military’s NCO corps. What they are most definitely suffering from is lack of younger workers staying on to develop the skills to be the next generation of “old heads.” Much of it is the Nintendo Generation, but corporate emphasis on paper work “process” rather than hardware work process doesn’t develop people who have the technical vision to just walk up to the airplane and say, “that’s not right.”
