An unnamed artist in Lincoln Park is exploring the very intersection of art and cheese in an unofficial exhibit consisting of one slice of processed cheese stuck to the window of the now-closed Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, 900 W. Armitage Ave.
The sidewalk installation’s origin story is unknown, but an anonymous admirer confirmed the slice of cheese has been up since at least the summer, proving it has weathered extreme heat, rain, sleet and even snow.
On a laminated card taped next to the slice of cheese — which appears to be Kraft Singles American Cheese — the admirer wrote that they first found it Aug. 22.
“I (anonymous writer) cannot take credit for this incredible piece of modern art,” the typewritten card reads. “One day someone stuck this cheese to a window on Armitage and now every day I admire it. Thank you cheese.” More
I prefer my cheese art from an aerosol can as applied to a triscuit.
What a cheesy thing to do. I wonder if some dumbass will scrape it off of that window and eat it.
I admired mt own modern art this morning but then I had to flush.
When I still worked (retired now) I jokingly told co-workers what a great country we were. Name one other country that invented putting processed cheese in a can. After that it was an annual ritual for me to get a can of cheese and some crackers on my birthday.
Health wise processed cheese may not be the best for us but dang it. We put a man on the moon, built the first nuclear weapon and put processed cheese in a can.
Real cheese vs. artificial cheese
Real art vs. artificial art
One has a higher value over the other.
@tctsunami — Cheese in a can was one small step for a man, but whipped cream in a can was one giant leap for mankind.
And when you get the last of the cheese out of the can, pull the little rubber plug out of the bottom, releasing the pressurized nitrogen… scares the livin’ shit outta the cat!
Cheese touch is real!

Or should that be Dairy?
I say cheese is a better medium for artists than say, snot, Who could disagree with that?
Whenever I see a label on food item that says the product has “real” cheese I makes me want to buy something that has “unreal” cheese in it.
