Maryland’s Anti-Cop Democrats Vote to Remove Police Protections

Fox News

Maryland lawmakers passed legislation Saturday, becoming the first state to end its police Bill of Rights after the Democrat-controlled Legislature voted to override three of Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s vetoes.

The sweeping reform bills remove protections in police due process for alleged misconduct that critics say have impeded accountability and will now give civilians a role, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The reform package also increases the civil liability limit for officers from $400,000 to $890,000 and an officer convicted of using excessive force, causing serious injury or death could face 10 years in prison. It also sets a new statewide standard for what is deemed “necessary” force. More

  1. Excellent move to make police officers financially liable for their criminal or unconstitutional violations.
Ending night time “no knock” raids is a great improvement, although the entire “no knock” entry is unconstitutional.
And yes, hopefully it will do great damage to police recruitment and retention. The scumball psychopaths won’t stay on and others won’t apply for the job. Good riddance.

  2. My daughter recently got a job at Johns Hopkins University in downtown Baltimore. She’s tired of commuting and wants to rent some place in the city. How can I convince her not to do it?

  3. When they go out of their way to make life miserable for good officers, it will leave only crappy officers left and crappy people applying.

While they are at it, they should vote to eliminate their security details. I know, it doesn’t work that way.

While I am all for holding police accountable for their actions, they only seem to be interested in punishing police who go after criminals.

  4. I was a residential telephone man in downtown Ballmer in the middle 90s, Jethro. It was a horrible disgusting place. I can’t imagine that it has become better with time, but DC did.

I got out of Baltimore a year later and went to DC. It was a hellhole, too, but the crackheads and faggots didn’t really bother us. Oh, I had become a Systems Tech as well, so whilst I did some residential work, it was residential work for professionals and not the crackheads and murderers in Baltimore.

Baltimore was FULL of jobless maggots on the dole.

  5. Honestly friends at IOTW, I am really starting to worry about where America is going.
You generally expect that if you get a bad leader, in 4 years you can try someone else and things can get fixed.

In 4 years America will be like buying Al Bundy’s Dodge after it was driven off a cliff with a trunk full of Dynamite, and then trying to do a full Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Restoration.

Good Luck North America (Both Countries)

  7. @Lead Salad

The funeral parlors, morticians and casket sales will love it.
Democrat way to simulate certain sectors of the economy.

  8. PG cops had a habit of beating the snot out of citizens pretty regularly.
One guy (a negro) was beaten senseless for “resisting arrest” AFTER they pulled him out from under his bed! Yep – the cops all got a pass – and the negro wasn’t even the negro they were looking for! Didn’t matter.

    Fuck MD – whatever happens.

  9. Very simple solution, have your IT folks cross reference driver license, license plate and voter registration data bases and create a “Do Not Respond” number or at least “Respond Tomorrow” list.
