Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has faced the wrath of the professionally republican.  The Bush clan together with Democrats in the Lone Star state tried to take Paxton out of Texas politics with a ridiculous impeachment effort; supported by many Texas politicians including Chip Roy.  However, Paxton defeated the impeachment effort and is stronger than ever with the support of the base of the new republican party.

During a Q&A segment, Paxton was asked if he would present a primary challenge to Texas Senator John Cornyn. From his response in the segment below, it would appear that AG Paxton is favorable to doing it. More

  1. Yes, a lot to do, but can we, at some point within the next two years, have another go at term limits?

The system was never designed for career politicians, going against the spirit of what Jefferson called “citizen politicians”. The plan was for those citizens who felt a duty to serve, to do so. Enriching oneself in the process was not honorable.

Even the ones I like, “You are not irreplaceable, thanks for your service, now go home”.

  2. Yeah, a great one like Rand Paul can find another role. Of course the challenge is to get the legislators to vote for term limits for themselves. It would have to be an amendment.

  3. I’m begging you to read up on the unintended consequences of term limits. If you think the 17th Amendment was bad, wait till you see what this feel-good, stick-it-to-the-man idea would unleash.

  4. Term-limited politicians will be totally unaccountable and will feather their own post-office nests.
Look at Biden as a small sample of the unbridled hubris you can expect.

Term limits exist now. They’re called elections.

  5. Texas has essentially had only 1 senator for some time (Kentucky on the other hand has many more than 2). Cornhole made an underhanded deal with democrats when he was a an associate justice on the Texas Supreme Court to prevent the TX AG from being able to challenge elections. When Phil Graham retired from the senate Henry Bonilla, a loyal republican house member expressed an interest in the seat (think of the cache of having a latino republican from Texas in the senate). But then, Mr. pasty white face and the rino machine elbowed Henry aside and ever since if you ever wondered the whereabouts of the honorable Mr. Cornhole you need only look at McConnell’s posterior to see Cornhole dangling from it.
