New York Rejects Electric Snow Plows

essanews

The experiment was not successful. The plow [fitted on the front of an electric garbage truck], dragging across the road and the snow buildup in front of it, created substantial resistance. Moreover, the plow required almost constant movement, eliminating the option for loading pauses. Consequently, the electric vehicle’s power supply was insufficient for the demands of a New York winter, known for its heavy snowfall, as reported by the website…

…The report further detailed that after nearly two hours, the electric plow had to discontinue the route for recharging. While the truck was efficient for garbage collection, its performance significantly dipped when facing snow removal tasks. More

  1. I’m just an old lady who cannot even dial a smart phone and even I could have told them an electric snow plow was magical thinking.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand some politicians and cronies skimmed a lot of taxpayer money on this crap. It was all for the money.

Insert my shocked face here. I’m surprised they work for garbage collection.

  3. They laugh at us Southerners because we have no snow plows and we freak out over an inch of snow. And then they brainstorm up a contraption like that. Whatever happened to “Yankee Ingenuity”?

  4. My administration is working to make ‘every vehicle’ in the U.S. military ‘climate-friendly’. Because an electric tank *has* to work better than an electric snow plow. Not a joke.

  5. It wasn’t “efficient” for trash collection. They are just willing to deal with the inefficiency for trash collection. Our county went to all CNG trucks. A MUCH smarter alternative if one wants to get away from diesel.
