BPR: Oregon sheriffs are not on board with Gov. Kate Brown’s plan to mobilize their forces and deal with the ongoing unrest in Portland.
The sheriffs of Clackamas and Washington County as well as others roundly rejected the Democrat governor’s newly announced plan “to keep the peace and protect free speech” by using their staff to help the Portland Police Bureau, saying it’s the state’s criminal justice system that needs changing.
“Had Governor Brown discussed her plan with my office, I would have told her it’s about changing policy, not adding resources,” Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts said in a statement Monday. “Increasing law enforcement resources in Portland will not solve the nightly violence and now, murder.”
Roberts and neighboring law enforcement agencies essentially told Brown to take a hike in stinging rebukes after her request for their assistance to “bring violence and arson to an end in Portland.” more here
Hey Gov, stop playing politics and let those who are willing to put their lives on the line to enforce the law do their job. I do think the sheriffs should help, but not until the governor supports the local cops.

Now that riots aren’t polling well, suddenly the Dems want to act all law-and-order like, and nobody’s buying their BS.
Portland has encouraged this sort of crap for years, now they can clean up their own mess.
…Cincinnati did something like this when they had major riots in 2001 over (drum roll) unarmed Black men police shootings.
(of course, one of those was a Black police officer that was dragged to his death by a 12 year old driving a car that he shot just before he dies, but you know how this works, no facts allowed).
The CPD basically surrendered, the Democrat city government told them to stand down, White people were pulled from their cars on main thoroghfares and beaten for being White, stuff burned and was looted…sound familiar?
…So the County Sheriff, a Republican at the time, stood up and decided to put an end to that crap whether the City wanted to or not, it was HIS county. Since it was kind of a local problem at the time and the sheriff’s department wasn’t hamstrung by media and sail phones like they are now…it kinda worked. They ended the riots and at least made it possible for White people to drive through town again, and set the stage for a formal surrender to a “civilian complaint authority” via consent decree that made it so the City race counted and had to pull White people over on the highways just to keep from being called rayyciss every five minutes, a tradition they still seem to carry out to this day.
The County won’t save them NEXT time, though. Too much “Wokeness” training now, a Democrat is currently Sheriff, the County Government is all Democrats (including one that threatened to have City firemen beat up a reporter for a story she didn’t like when she was running the City, just so you know how bad it is that she’s running a BIGGER government now because, Black and Female), and even the kind-of OK male Democrat sheriff lost his primary to a militant lesbian in a county that they used Section 8 to flip Blue for the “Obama” elections that will probably never elect a Republican again, so I don’t have a lot of hope that can be repeated in future, should it become necessary.
Needless to say, the wife and I are looking to move before that happens.
In any case, seems the Oregon sheriff’s aren’t all Democrat idiots like that, and good for you, Oregon.
Unfortunately, you good Oregonians, like me, will be outvoted and outelected by the Democrat controlled large cities, will be subject to Section 8 spread and “refugee resettlement” as we were, and will eventually be “blued” anyway, because that’s what Communism does, it spreads.
Absent a Civil War or Jesus coming back, that is.

I feel I must once again repost for anyone who is recent here: Back in January The Oregonian shut down it’s immensely popular and very active comments section. Other “news” sources around the region followed suit. The excuses were so transparent and flimsy that right out of the gate it was apparent to me that the Democrats were preparing to launch a major spring offensive. I posted that observation right here on IOTWReport back in January.
To me it was so obvious what I was observing that there was no mistaking what was going on that anyone should immediately have recognized it.
People commenting on The O website corrected false narratives and filled in the missing info and pretty well had negated the lies by omission that were present in the articles therein daily.
I can point to the “reporting” on the children run off the cliff in California as an outstanding example wherein The O had to circle back and address the false narrative almost every day after the published a story on that incident as an outstanding example of how that worked.
MyNorthwest dot com is another example. The left understands that winning the propaganda war is the only way they can prevail in selling their false narratives. They thought this would allow them to prevail, but independent journalists are still frustrating them. They want them all deplatformed and their voices shut down.
President Trump IMHO needs to take the fight to them and do so publicly as well as going after their carve out from being held civilly liable for content they are controlling.
The public also needs a place to comment and my hope is that someone will set up a unique comments website for every news site where readers can comment on stories run in every paper and on every news website in the country in order to get around this blatant censorship.
“Protect free speech” is code for not doing anything against the rioters. The sheriff’s letters were carefully crafted political wording. But they basically said “When the DA lets off the arrested without charges and the mayor restrains the police, what’s the point? I’m not going to put my officers at risk to staff the Kabuki theater that you’re trying to run and make it appear that you’re doing something when you’re actually not”.
