Restaurants across the nation are cutting specific promotions and reworking menu specials amid record inflation levels.

Food prices were up 7.9 percent in February compared to one year ago, and March’s numbers are expected to continue the upward trend when they are released Tuesday.

After one year’s worth of rising inflation, consumers across the country are swapping expensive items for cheaper counterparts, causing retail stores and restaurants to rethink their sales and menu deals.

  1. The article says he’s removed the surf and turf ( which is probably 6 boiled shrimp and a 4oz steak for $12.99) and replaced it with fish and chips (which is probably an 8oz piece of battered cod and potatoes for $9.99)……Hell, all he did was improve his profit margin……a real surf and turf is lobster tail and a 12oz NY strip, who’s price is dependent on the market price of lobster, and could be $30 bucks a plate or more….

  2. One of the big price drivers in lobster are the new federal rules imposed on lobster fishermen.
They close over 900 square miles of fishing territory. They are demanding breakaway lines. (Good luck with that) They are just about killing the industry. All in the name of saving the Right Whale which hasn’t been seen close to shore or been entangled in any lines for decades.

  3. Shopped yesterday evening. All the items I purchase every week (bread, dairy, eggs, veggies) went up from the week before as they have every week.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Phone at work ringing daily with people looking to buy rototillers.
Not looking forward to a hot summer.

  4. Restaurants??
Remind me what those are. Is that where they make you wear a mask to go sit at a table outside in a plastic tent (if you’re not a D politician, that is).
