An Astronaut Captured the Southern Lights Under a Full Moon and They’re Stunning.
Twisted Sifter:
Thomas Pesquet, a French astronaut for the ESA, is currently aboard the International Space Station. He recently shared some breathtaking images of Aurora Astralis (Southern Lights). See them
Gorgeous! I should start visiting APOD again.
Those are stunning! I have never seen the Northern Lights from space but they probably are beautiful also.
You can watch the ISS fly over some nights. Look up “ISS spotting over your city”. I have seen it several times in the last 2 months.
You can talk to the space station when it is overhead
if you are a licensed ham radio operator.Home made cross polarized Yagi antenna and a walkie-talkie {called handi-talkie in the ham world}.The station has talk in Freq.s in the 2 meter band and the 70 cm band.I think you got about a 20 minute window before the station
goes below the horizon.
God’s beauty is everywhere
Beautiful work by that PhotoShop artist!

Flat Earther, are you?
I was actually the first western European-descended American to view the Southern Lights. I hadn’t yet invented space travel, so I wasn’t able to get photos as good as these.
