Texas: Accused Fajita Bandit Waives Jury Trial

KFI: An accused fajita bandit is waiving his right to trial by jury.  Former Cameron County, Texas juvenile detention center employee Gilberto Escamilla is expected to plead guilty at his next hearing in two weeks after his decision yesterday to opt out of a jury trial.  Escamilla was arrested last year after a food service vendor revealed to the detention center staff he had been selling fajitas to Escamilla for years.

The only problem was that Escamilla is accused of re-selling the food and billing it to the detention center which doesn’t even offer any fajitas on its menu.

  1. This case is so old, it’s only now coming to trial? Seems like this was first reported a long time ago. Just an observation. I hope he gets the whole enchilada thrown at him!
