TGI Fridays Goes Belly Up

Breitbart

Restaurant chain TGI Fridays announced on Saturday it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the news coming as numerous other similar businesses have done the same.

According to Reuters, the chain has been struggling financially and experienced a “collapsed deal” with a British operator.

“In a filing with the U.S. bankruptcy court for the Northern District of Texas, the company listed both assets and liabilities in the range of $100 million to $500 million,” the article said. The business, which is “privately owned by TriArtisan Capital Advisors,” has “secured a financing commitment to support operations.” More

  1. So many businesses failing these days with the accompanying lost jobs. Its wrecking people daily. This terrible economy has got to be turned around before we suffer another 1930’s type depression.

Our hopes are with a President who cares about people’s lives, and that is not the idiot Kamala. She can only make our lives worse.

  2. I know a few people who are TGIFridays fans (I’m not one) and they’ll miss them if they go all the way under. Even though I don’t like them very much, it’s a shame to see them in trouble, especially for the sake of their employees.

  3. Boo hoo. Went to a TGIFriday’s once about 15 yrs ago. Got seated. Not crowded. Watched young waitstaff joke around and cut up for 20 minutes and no service for our table. We left and I’ve never entered one since.

  4. Over the last few years in my area:
    Rally Burger- now a starbux.
der Weinerschnitzel- now a Brazilian plate house.
KFC- now el pollo inka (opening soon.)
    Burger King- now Wendy’s.
    Round Table Pizza- now Chilis.
Wee Man’s Tacos- now a coffee shop of some sort.
Marie Callendar’s- bulldozed, replaced with an Asian food court.

  5. We are seeing the fallout of four years of Bidenomics. And it’s going to get worse….even if Trump miraculously beats the lefts ‘margin of cheat’. You can’t undo the damage the left has done for so many years and recover from that overnight…or even over a few years. It would take DECADES to undo all the damage the left has accomplished .

  6. “Unfortunately, no one is interested in a $25 platter of potato skins.”
Loaded Potato Skins in California are $15.00. I wish people here would start sticking to facts. This is a for profit corp that is suffering the affects of Bidenomics. Like many others. Bidenomics is the exact same as Obamanimics. Destroy all non discretionary spending.
Obama killed damn near every travel trailer manufacturer, every boat manufacturer, every camper manufacturer and almost killed Harley. That’s their plan.

Your wrong. I’ve been through this twice before. Once with Reagan, and with Trump’s first term. There’s a whole heard of VC guys, Venture Capitalists, that are sitting on a ton of money that they will pour into the economy the day after Trump is declared the winner.

  8. TGIF was across the freeway from grad school. Went there about 5-6 times over four years and haven’t been back since 1988. I think TGIF, Applebee’s and Chili’s are interchangeable.

  9. Went to tgif 20 years ago.
    Had soup and sandwich.
    Soup was cold.
When they put it up on the delivery counter, the “chef” didn’t believe it and stuck his finger in it.
We left before it came back.

  10. When you make America Great Again, you make everything better. Just like I never worked for a poor man, when the investers, entrepreneurs, businesses and even charities do better, EVERYBODY does better!
    It’s just that simple!

democRATz have done NOTHING to improve ANYTHING. All they do is foment hatred and division in order to drag people down to their level of Suck!

  11. Thanks to inflation and Bidenomics, going out to eat is frequently more expensive than it’s worth. A good breakfast meal in a restaurant in our area is now $35 to $40 dollars – food is good, I don’t think the restaurant is price gouging, and the wait staff relies on tips so I do that. Frankly, the wife and I can afford to go out to eat more than we do, but the benefit isn’t worth the cost.

I am also on the road quite a bit, but don’t bother with fast food anymore. We drove through McDonalds for a quick breakfast – egg McMuffin, oatmeal and a coffee – for $10. It was the first time in several months I have driven through a fast food joint as we were anxious to get on the road, and the best and only thing I can say is that it satisfied my hunger for the rest of the drive.

I did need to drop some weight, and restricting eating out and fast food (and upping my work out schedule) has resulted in my dropping over 20 pounds. So…thanks Biden and the democrats?

…I know this is an unrelated thread, but I saw your question below after the Penny thread closed and wanted to answer it.

“What are the effects of Narcan on non drug/sober users and have there been any studies on this subject?”

…Naloxone (Narcan®) is an opioid antagonist that has been used effectively for decades to prevent the effects of opioids in the brain for a limited time, temporarily reversing respiratory depresssion caused by them. It is NOT a “cure” and is NOT definitive treatment, it buys time to get to a hospital.

If no opioids or synthetic opioid compounds that use the same receptors are present, it does nothing. If other drugs are mixed with opioids it may appear to do nothing but it does block the opioid component, which may make arousal or at least spontaneous respirations easier to achieve. It has no known interaction with alcohol and does no harm to a non-opioid user.

Here is the FAQ page for Narcan® in their own words. Naloxone is the generic name for the compound, Narcan® is just one manufacturers trade name for it.
    https://narcan.com/en/frequently-asked-questions?origin=serp_auto

…note that while there isnt really such a thing as “overdose” with Naloxone, you do need to be aware that some people can awake fighting, puking, or both, so you need to be prepared to manage this.

Not everyone who’s “high” you abruptly end is grateful for it, and some will make that manifestly clear.

…but as for the drug itself it HAS been well studied and has no ill effects on the sober, although the injectabke version has been around much longer. The nasal version is slower acting but has the same effect, and because it is easier to store and requires no specialized training to administer is why it is a go-to for harm reduction for Good Samaritans. This is also why it is now commomly administered early for “unkown Downs”, it may help and it cant hurt, as long as it is understood that you still need to apply sometimes aggressive lifesaving methods like CPR in conjunction with it as it wont reverse a pulseless nonbreather by itself.

    Here is what the State of Ohio says about it, other states are similar. Note this order of precidence has Naloxone AFTER calling 911 but BEFORE even rescue breathing;

    https://naloxone.ohio.gov/about-naloxone/how-to-administer-naloxone/how-to-administer-naloxone

…so Naloxone should NOT be withheld as an ADJUNCT therapy in an Unknown Down. Again, cant hurt and may help…
