Wapo Writer Offers His Trump VP Pick Predictions

Had Trump picked Fiorina, the NeverTrump sites that are currently going gaga over Cruz/Fiorina would be guffawing over Trump’s “idiotic pick.”

So, keeping that in mind, here are WAPO’s predictions.

5. Marco Rubio

4. John Kasich

3. Joni Ernst

2. Rick Scott

1. Chris Christie

!snip!

From this list I think Chris Christie is the only one the writer got right. Rubio is a possibility because Trump might use Rubio to snare his delegates and avoid a brokered convention. (Rubio needs the gig.)

Trump probably has Scott Brown and John Thune on his shortlist.

An interesting pick, one with gravitas, would be Newt Gingrich.

An interesting political choice would be Tim Scott.

A more predictable pick, one that WAPO missed, would be Jeff Sessions.

What do you guys think?

  1. I am going to pick JohnS – he has an answer for everything and continuously puts thoughts in my head, words in my mouth and predicts actions I will take. I could just be the second coming of Obama and go golfing while letting him run the country

  2. I’ve been thinking Jeff Sessions from the time he endorsed Trump, although I’d rather him be Senate Majority Leader. 🙂 Am absolutely in love with Newt, love Buchanan but he might be a bit old to take Trump’s 3rd term,

If it isn’t Sessions, It will be someone totally out of politics, but who knows what gives and goes.

  3. I hope Admiral Lyons is somewhere within the cabinet – I don’t care what his age is. Lyons understands that Islam isn’t a religion, but instead is a political system and will deal with them accordingly.

  4. Christie? Really? No, he doesn’t need a northeastern RINO on his ticket. Veeps are added to offer diversity and votes, and Christie doesn’t do that.

    It’ll be a chick, probably a Governor.

    Nikki Haley comes to mind.

I’ll put money on a minority chick, that’s what he needs to balance his ticket.

  5. Trump will pick Chrispy Cream and we will all be screwed, Trumpy is a New York lefty, pro abortion, pro perv, anti trade you know New York City values!

Buyer beware, he ain”t no conservative.

  6. Menderman….what about Brewer?

Two months ago I told my hubby if he really wanted to mess with people he’d pick Jan Brewer…. or double down with Joe Arpaio.

Can you imagine, it would be like that old movie Scanners, heads exploding everywhere….

  7. @ HooHooNayNay Jan Brewer is a white chick, so, no.

How about that black general chick that was in the news recently?

Maj. Gen. Marcia Anderson would be a smart match!

I don’t know much about her, but I like what I have seen.

  8. loved the Rubio pick for the delegates ….. until I remembered how the delegate count works. Rubio can ‘tell’ his delegates to vote for whomever he wants, but the delegates are ‘bound’ on the first ballot. on subsequent ballots they are ‘unbound’…. they can vote for whomever they want (or whomever bribes them the most), regardless of what Rubio tells them.
I’m hoping Trump is thinking ‘out-of-the-box’ on the veep pick (not too much as to pick someone so obscure that no one knows them, ala James Stockdale), but I suspect he’ll play it a bit safer & go w/ a politician …. sadly.
we need a shakeup of government, not the same-old same-old
I’m praying Trump takes this opportunity seriously, because we are rapidly running out of chances to save this country

  9. @Brad – Newt for 4 years to whip congress into shape and then somebody younger to run after his second term
Or somebody to run in 2020 because he doesn’t want to be Pres when he is 74

  10. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ, very true. But if Trumps the guy it’s the big ass reset button. They’re already starting to fall in line. And young Rubio does have a talent. I thought he was a much better debater than Cruz. With the exception of the time fat boy kicked his ass. But when he’s on point he’s tough.

  11. Allen West, because fuck islamoleftism.
If I can’t have that, then Newt, because like Donald, he mops the floor with media jerkwads & has consistently said positive well reasoned things about Trump. They’d be a kickass team. The flaming moes hate Gingrich and that’s a good thing. Christie is an islamoblow (credit Mr Pinko for that word) and that should be an immediate disqualification (ya hear me, Fiorinafreaks?).

  12. I think he will pick Rubio. I would rather it be Allen West followed by Tim Scott, Susana Martinez or even Rand Paul. Isn’t Martinez head of the Republican Governor’s Association? Geographically Martinez makes sense.

Chrispie is at an all time ratings low and I can’t stand the Moslem apologist booger. Of course there’s always Huckleberry.
Maybe he’ll pick someone with sass like MJA.

A cinderblock would be better than Joe Biden.

  13. venturaguy, I agree, but in the back of my mind I’m thinking Trumps thinking I’ll give this four years and I’m out. I have no evidence that’s the case. Just me.

  14. Bad Brad, you may be right about four & out, cuz The Donald will git-er-dun and won’t need 8 years to do it. Hell, he is so mighty he can do it ahead of time & under budget and retire after three. 😉

  15. Zilla, I think the reason I feel that way is, as a biz guy myself you set time limits. I think he’s thinking I really don’t need this shit, if I can’t turn it around and pass it off in four I’m out. Plus this has got to be taking a lot out of him. But he sure rises to the ocasion. His biggest critic would need to admit that. Well everyone but Woodie and JonhS.

  16. William Edward “Bill” Haslam (born August 23, 1958) is an American politician who is the 49th and current Governor of Tennessee. A member of the Republican Party, Haslam was elected Governor in 2010 and was sworn in on January 15, 2011.

    You heard it here first.
    Listen to Loco

  17. Col. Ralph Peters.

What a great team they’d make. Anybody who has the balls to call Obama the P-word on prime-time teevee is obviously on the same page as Trump.

    Other picks:

    Attorney General: Trey Gowdy
Empty Supreme Court seat: Ted Cruz
    Secretary of Labor: Scott Walker
    Secretary of Energy: Sarah Palin
Secretary of the Interior: Donald Trump, Jr.
Secretary of Defense: Col. Allen West
    Head of FEMA: Rudy Giuliani
Ambassadorships to: David Dinkins country TBD), John Rosenbaum (Japan)
    Surgeon General: Dr. Ben Carson

    You’re welcome.

  18. Newt – Chief of Staff
    Milo – Press Secretary
    BFH – Presidential portrait painter
Eugenia – IRS Director so I can do unto others as has been done unto conservatives
John Kasich – Ambassador to Borneo, Easter Island, Mars or anywhere else far, far away

  19. Just thoughts (NOT preference!)

    * Pam Bondi (Florida’s current Attorney General
    under Gov. Rick Scott)
    * Suzanna Martinez (if Plain Jane is correct,
    SCRATCH her from the list)

  20. Of course if I had my way Ted Nugent would be Press Sec and whenever the lib press would ask some asinine question Ted would totally cut them off bust into Cat Scratch Fever. Or a hunting lesson.

  21. Menderman said, “I’ll put money on a minority chick, that’s what he needs to balance his ticket.”

Wow, and he called me an idiot?

I like West(even with that idiotic vote in Pigford) and not because he’s black-he famously said he’d walk through Hell with a can of gasoline for his men after he had been caught firing a pistol next to a jihadi’s head to get info on an IED. He knows the history of Islam and it would be a huge signal about direction Trump would be going. If not there, somewhere in the administration I hope.

I also would like to see Newt in the mix too-great mind.

Joni Ernst? Never. She’s a fucking sell out.

  22. Trump is very strong in the southeast, so a VP from FL or SC (T. Scott, R. Scott, Haley, Rubio, West) may not help him much. He has been a little weaker in the middle of the country, so maybe someone from Texas/OK/NEB or nearby? Or he could blow all our minds and get someone from the private sector we never heard of…
