Nail Bomb on Russian Metro

Nail bomb explodes on St Petersburg metro: ‘Terrorist’ seen throwing backpack onto train moments before shrapnel rips through carriages killing at least 12 on day Putin visits the city

Two nail bombs have ripped through train carriages killing at least ten and injuring 50 in the Russian city of St. Petersburg this morning. Explosive devices packed full of shrapnel were detonated on a train between the Sennaya Ploshchad and Sadovaya stations. Pictures from the scene show casualties covered in blood and lying on the ground (left and right) next to the mangled remains of a train door. Footage also shows people fleeing from the scene and thick smoke coming from a station (bottom right). Some of the casualties are understood to be children. Russian President Vladimir Putin (bottom left) was in the city for talks with his Belarusian counterpart and said investigators are looking into a possible terror attack and other theories for the blast.
