Obama’s Executive Gun Control Directs DOD, DOJ to ‘Further’ Use of ‘Smart Gun’ Technology

Obama still has not said anything specifically about the Secret Service using “smart guns” in his protection detail. When it comes to his personal safety, Obama appears to remain a big fan of traditional firearms.

Breitbart: On January 4, the White House released a fact sheet which previews the executive gun control Obama will announce Tuesday, and it reveals that the Department of Defense and Department of Justice have been directed to expand their use of “smart gun” technology.

According to the executive gun control fact sheet, Obama has directed “the Departments of Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security to conduct or sponsor research into gun safety technology.” Moreover, the various departments are “to review the availability of smart gun technology on a regular basis, and to explore potential ways to further its use and development to more broadly improve gun safety.”  more

  1. “What this ignores is the fact that “smart guns” are still too dumb to be trusted.”

obama is too dumb to be trusted……yet the dumbest people do.

obama’s executive gun control does nothing, but that’s where barry excels. Doing nothing while the media praises his failures.

  2. Do the numbers… “smart” wrecked the phone, “smart” wrecked the car, wrecked your home, steals from your life and wife, but it’s probably different with guns.

  3. I could stop a lot of “gun violence” tomorrow.

    1) National database anyone can access that lists ser # of guns reported stolen. That way there is no excuse.

    2) You are caught with a stolen gun in your possession it is ten years per gun in the federal penitentiary. No early out, no exceptions.

    3) Get caught stealing a gun and it is twenty per gun and that applies to minors as well.

Almost 100% of “gun violence” involves stolen guns.

  4. Time to pull taxpayer funding for armed security details for all
public officials (Limos too). Let them pay for their own security
(and ride the bus) but also make sure the security details follow every inch of the law! Then we are all equal right Barry?

  5. JDhasty nails it.

To add, offer up a 10 thousand dollar reward for shooting an intruder in your own home or business.

AND, offer state assistance for homeowners who need help purchasing a gun.

    CRIME WOULD CEASE TO EXIST.

  6. It’s all just a matter of commie redefinition, just like redefining marriage and nobody had a problem with that.

That’s why you don’t let them change foundational elements of a civilized society.

  7. I forgot

    4) Use a stolen gun when committing a crime and you go away for an additional 30 years and that is on top of the “firearm enhancement” that is already part of the plan you signed up for.

  8. When I hear the term “smart gun technology”, I think of the free market where nobody buys the shit, and sellers refuse to sell the shit because nobody buys the shit.

  9. What a stupid fuc*ing idiot. Smart Gun Technology is supposed to keep person A from using person B’s weapon. In combat, this makes no sense. None. Zero. Zero, the first letter in 0bama’s name!

  10. In Cook County (Sh!tcago), they plead down all kinds of gun crimes, due to lack of evidence (no one will ‘snitch’). Yet, these thugs always have illegal, often stolen, guns on them, but no one goes away for the mandatory double-digit FEDERAL time. Why?

Don’t pass more laws until you use the laws you have on the books!!!

Or, is this as I suspect, NOT about keeping guns away from criminals at all?

  11. I listened to part of obuma’s spew on my way to lunch. almost lost my appetite , he listed many names now familiar only because of gun violence, from Colombine to San Bernadino , but very glaringly omitted Ft Hood.
I would love for him to have said ” I will lead by example and do an executive order that the Secret Service will use smart guns to test the reliability of this untested new technology.
My only concern with that is it would endanger the lives of the Secret Service men and women.
