Actor James Cromwell Sent To Jail Over Unpaid Protest Fines

ET Canada:

Oscar-nominated actor James Cromwell is heading to jail after refusing to pay fines related to his arrest at a New York power plant protest.

The 77-year-old American Horror Story star was arrested back in December 2015 for obstruction of traffic during a protest at a power plant being built in Wawayanda, Orange County. The Competitive Power Ventures facility is set to open in February 2018, and environmental activists are concerned that carbon emissions produced by the plant will have a negative affect on the local area.

A Wawayanda judge sentenced Cromwell – and two fellow protestors – to seven days in Orange County Jail after they refused to pay the $250 (plus $125 surcharge) fine.  more

  1. This is one of those moments that I swear I’m traveling to different universes in the course of my single lifetime. I swear to freaking gaaawd that James Cromwell died years ago. And in my lifetime, Abe Vigoda has died four times.

  2. He played a cop in the movie Tank with James Garner.
He was the dad in Revenge of the Nerds.
He also starred in The Generals Daughter with John Travolta.
Was in many TV shows in the 70s and 80s.
Just another actor that made it big back 30 to 40 years ago.

  3. There is something fatally wrong with a society that elevates to positions of rare wisdom people whose sole accomplishment is pretending to be other people by convincingly reading lines that someone wrote for them. In one word, their career is lying.

  4. Such a principled chap. Activism in the name of climate change, animals rights, the Black Panthers.
I suspect he’ll spend his 7 days of righteous time segregated away from the riff-raff due to his elevated stature, wherafter he’ll return to his multi-million dollar home.
He’s obviously anti capitalism, for everyone but himself that is.

  5. Don’t forget to turn the power off where he’s incarcerated because, after all, he was protesting against Evil Power.
    So:
    No heat.
    No air conditioning.
    No hot water.
    No refridgeration.
    No lighting.

Make him comfortable in his Powerless Utopia.

  6. He gave the commencement speech at my daughters college (Liberal Arts and Design School) and couldn’t say enough about how wonderful Obama was/is ! That should tell you all you need to know !

  7. He won’t spend a day in a real jail. He’ll either be in an empty adseg wing with a 24 hour guard and catered food or because of “overcrowding” he’ll be processed in then immediately out. I’d pay money to see him spend his seven days in a real jail overcrowded with criminals of all stripes, a shortage of trained guards, slop for food (at least slop as far has he’s concerned).
I think I’d actually rather see him with preferential treatment while the two guys he was arrented with and are going to jail with are thrown into the pits. When the story got out it would pretty well destroy him as any kind of spokesman for lefty causes.
