Backed by Trump, Republican John Cox is a force in California governor race

FOX:

Republican businessman John Cox is shaking up the gubernatorial contest in liberal California, as he enjoys a strong position in the polls and the full-throated endorsement of President Trump ahead of next week’s primary.

“California has a rare opportunity to turn things around and solve its high crime, high tax, problems — along with so many others,” Trump tweeted on Memorial Day, 10 days after first endorsing Cox. “On June 5th, vote for GOP Gubernatorial Candidate JOHN COX, a really good and highly competent man. He’ll Make California Great Again!”

  1. Watch out for nutty professors offering their services to your campaign, Mr. Cox. And I hope you’re clean as a whistle. The shitsoros is coming your way, hot and heavy.

  2. Cox was an antiTrumper, did not vote for Trump but voted for the Libertarian for President. Do I dare vote for him just because he’s in second place or vote with my conscience. Why would Trump endorse him knowing that Cox did not vote for Trump. I don’t get it.

  3. Newsom is owned by the Gettys.
    Nice crowd.

Cox needs to play hardball, pitch a few the head, if he wants to win.
Newsom is another in at the line of empty suit know-nothings who’ve allowed California to be at the edge of disaster.
The state’s single party government state must be stopped.

My opinion is you now need to go with Cox. Cox just picked up the endorsement of John McGinness today. I think Allen was a better candidate but we can’t take the chance. We need to get someone on the ticket with an R behind their name. Gas prices have your average post turtle ready to fall for a Republican.

  5. Goldenfoxx – Cox or Newsom. That’s the choice, assuming Cox takes enough votes to place second on the ballot. Who knows, as in the last election for US Senator, there were two Democrats on the ballot, no Republicans. Cox needs support, regardless of his flaws.

A vote for any Republican other than Cox increases the odds of a singe party election.
Cos is the only Republican running who has any chance to get the executive branch of this state out of the Democrats hands.

  6. @MJA I understand the top two go into the runoff, but what does it matter if it’s a republican v. Democrat, if the Democrat wins in a landslide? 2nd place? Who cares?

  7. I dropped my ballot in the mailbox today. Voted for Cox because he has the endorsements and poll numbers although I would certainly prefer Allen.

I expect CA to tilt a little more toward the right this year, but nowhere near enough to elect any Republicans to a statewide office. Always hopeful though.

  8. Dammit. Why don’t these guys get a jump on the election instead of waiting until half the people have cast their mail in ballots? Same with the “news” media. They’ll wait until the day before the election then do a story on the candidates and props. I voted only for Allen and left all others blank because they’re mostly a bunch of swine. I voted agains’t EVERY prop because they can’t be trusted.

  9. Only recently have there been ads for Cox here and never one for Allen.
There is some black guy running for something that says in his ad “feelings matter more than facts.” WOW!
