Biden drops menthol cigarette ban to court black voters – WSJ

RT: The White House has postponed indefinitely the plans to ban menthol cigarettes, after polls showed a drastic drop in African-American support for President Joe Biden ahead of the November election, according to the Wall Street Journal.

About 81% of black smokers used menthols as of 2020, the year when Biden got 91% of the black vote. Recent polls showed only 68% of African Americans planning to support the Democrat this time around, however.

“It’s clear that there are still more conversations to have, and that will take significantly more time,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said in a statement on Friday, noting the feedback the proposed ban received from civil rights and criminal justice reform groups. more

  1. The fact that the dirty motherfuckers had the temerity to think it’s any of their business in the first place tells me that not a single Democrat is fit to be in office

  2. What a duplicitous piece of shit he is. Of course he will screw them if re-installed (I refuse to use the term “elected”). And heaven forbid you attempt to sell any loose cigs in NYC. They’ll kill you for sure for that. Will blacks EVER free themselves from the DNC plantation? (you know you are NOT ALLOWED to use the word plantation on Yahoo comments…LOL)

  3. I smoked when I was younger and remember them being 37 cents a pack. I quit 20+ years ago. Now I notice in the store that they’re 8 to 10 bucks a pack and wonder how people can justify the expense.

  4. “Kool, man Kool.” Keep smoking them menthol cigareets all you darkies and everything will be Kool, until after the election and only then whammo I’ll ban your cancer sticks. I’m doing this to help you and to keep you voting democrap and it’s for your own good because you’re too stupid to quit smoking them cigareets on your own, it’s for your own good, now shut up and do it for the geezer (gipper).

  5. That was great, love the Hodge twins. That black woman is a nignoid if she doesn’t know that you can’t be a musician without playing music. Magician, my ass, she don’t know shit and it shows in her stupid and willful ignorance of the difference musician and magician.

  6. When I got out of the Air Force in ’79 I could buy a carton of Marlboros at the BX for $1.95… 19.5 cents for a pack. I can guarantee that the Indian reservations won’t stop making or selling menthol cigarettes. And nobody will quit just because they can’t get menthols anymore. All any of these laws do is create a black market.

  7. Wild Bill, cigarettes were 16 cents per pack once we were out in international waters past the 3-mile-limit offshore and were nontaxed. In 1973 when I made my first WestPac cruise aboard the Kitty Hawk you could buy a carton of cigarettes for $1.60 with a 10-carton limit. All the smokers and a lot of them chain smoked (especially the Chiefs also with their ever-present cup of coffee) when the smoking lamp was lit had their lockers jammed full of cigarettes. A lot of the guys in my squadron both black and white smoked Kools. I never smoked like my dad, my wife and 2 of my brothers, I can’t stand cigarettes. They were also used as barter by service members, and I know that one of my uncles after World War 2 when he was doing occupation duty in Japan was able to barter for a lot of things with the Japanese locals for a carton of cigarettes. He brought home an antique statue of Buddha that he received in barter from some Japanese people that turned out to be very valuable years later that he sold for $5000 dollars and probably could’ve even got more for it if he’d known that it was worth more than that.

  8. But if you’re a black, female voter who smokes menthol’s, he’s not going to sniff you. He may twist your nipple, however.

What? “Then pass the menthol’s down here!”? You got it.

  9. Don’t tell my grandfather about joey twisting any womans nipple. I got a warning from my grandfather only once when he saw me give my female cousin a titty twister when I was 12 or so. I never did it again because my grandfather would’ve whooped my ass. My grandfather would come back from his grave after nearly 60 years and wouldn’t believe what happened to his America.

  10. Supposing that menthol cigarettes are in fact greater health risk, Joe again demonstrates his craven, immoral mindset: Manipulate blacks to vote for him by temporarily delaying a measure that would presumably save lives. How many lives will be lost to lung disease due to this temporary delay?

It’s a macabre algebra: Counting on more black votes persuaded by the delay than lost due to preventable lung disease.

That antique statue of Buddha was carved out of jade and was very valuable.

    Interesting…

I’m a big fan of Jadeite, but what you remind me of is about ten years ago we had a metal buying operation going. Was better than sex, but then at my age I’m truly not sure as I don’t remember what that was like.

Anyway, any number of things would come in that we just couldn’t scrap out. The wife and daughter made out well with that as we “cherry picked” and depending on who took in the pieces we would tell the other partner “This one is mine.” Pay what was paid out for it and give to the females in my life.

But finally getting to the point of this SNS length comment, there was a Chinese gentleman who had a gambling problem. The stuff he brought in was either 22Kt or in one case 24Kt pure hand carves dragon ring. The detail was amazing and confident it dated from Qind or perhaps even Ming Dynasty. This of course could not be scraped out and was sold to another Chinese collector. Much of what he brought in would probably have caused much fallout within his family if his parents found out what he had done with the “gifts” they had given him. He was no spring chicken himself so the parents probably never (hopefully) found out. Had a friend take a bunch of photos of it.

The ring curved around in a circle starting with the head winding around to the tail and as pure gold is soft you could open or compress the ring to whatever size was desired by the wearer. We considered keeping it, but two anglos couldn’t pull off wearing something like that where the Chinaman who bought it from us could.

Looking at reopening the operation with what’s going on with the metals now.

  12. I can’t believe Former President Newport even let him contemplate banning menthols. But you do what you must to stay in control behind the curtain. Even choking down “Biden gots 81,000,000 votes! moar that Obama!”
