President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted what some in the media billed as a “final farewell dinner” Friday evening at the White House, and while Vice President Kamala Harris was conspicuously absent, tears from the 81-year-old president were not.
Biden was overcome with emotion as wife Jill spoke to supporters and donors attending the party held on the South Lawn, hailing the president as her “husband and hero” while praising his decades of service.
“What I’ve watched you do for more than 40 years is extraordinary… Joe what you’ve done the last four years is breathtaking,” Mrs. Biden said, evoking tears from the president. more
