Oh, please! There are so many more earth – friendly things we could be doing in this country, but we just don’t.
My favorite gripe about plastic is that just about all trash bags are made of them. Stop ‘n’ Shop, from which I order my groceries, only offers paper bags that are 30 gallons and are meant for grass and leaf debris–don’t really suit my purposes.
When I was growing up, my mother bought paper bags that were coated with beeswax–both biodegradable materials–so that wet garbage wouldn’t cause holes in them. I can’t remember the brand name, but I haven’t seen them in the supermarket in years. Any green entrepreneurs out there? I would definitely buy them if I could.

Chicago has banned those thin plastic grocery bags for the sake of the environment. So what are the stores using? Some use paper but most use Heavy gauge plastic grocery bags that are supposedly reusable so ok with the city — but most people don’t reuse them. I used to use the other bags to scoop out the litter box and to pick up after the dog. Now I use the heavier bags. Then They go straight into the trash. That worked!
I don’t take anything home from the store I use it there.
No Paper or plastic.
I’m surprised the packets weren’t clamshelled.
Well, it was from the government so it must have been sustainable, right? I think sustainable trumps recyclable or something.
