  1. Thank you Marines. You’re a towering group of outstanding folks.

If you haven’t visited the USMC Museum near quantico you’re really missing out. It takes at least 6 Hours. You’ll appreciate the Marines even more once you do that.

  2. As a Vietnam Era Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, once you join the Marines there’s no exit.

When I say “Join the Marines” that refers to Doctor, Chaplin and Corpsman” Marines didn’t “join” the Corps…Marines are MADE in Boot Camp and are Marines when they pin on the Eagle Globe and Anchor!

Even to this day the Marines still consider me one of theirs. As a matter of fact we just finished setting up for tonight’s dinner celebrating 242 years of the being most gung-ho fighting force in the world.

    SEMPER FI MARINES!

  3. As a prior sailor, I just want to say that I was proud to serve with the Marines in the NavSecGru.
I just hope that there are 242 Years more of U.S.Marines around to do what needs to be done.
    Semper Fi.

  4. an ol exJarhead– I thought it was “former jarhead”

Legend has it that when the men lined up in Tun Tavern to sign into the Corps, (of course!) the first one made his mark, turned to the second man, handed him the quill and said “Ya know, things were different in the old Corps!”

Happy Birthday you bunch of sea-going ass-kicking bellhops!

  5. Hey Doc you know I love you. But truth be told they wouldn’t take me in the Marines, my IQ was too high. So they took me in the Army.
Also, Marines are known to eat bananas sideways so as not to be accused of anything untoward. I jest. The best boss I ever had in my life was an Iwo Jima survivor. He was 17 at the time. I’ll tell you his story one of these days. Semper Fi.
