  1. Ich wünschen Sie einen glücklichen Geburtstag y Feliz cumpleaños, gnädige Onkel Al!

May the Lord bless and protect you and strengthen you to another year, not only for your own sake but also that you may continue to shine the light of your wisdom here and everywhere, to the benefit of us all.

“Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.”
    Psalms 65:11

(Fatness in the positive OT sense, UA, and not intended any other way! 😉 )

    God Bless,

    1. Why do I have small clam-like mollusks in my heart, anyway?

  5. Happy birthday Al! Damn, we was just kids when we showed up here in ’09. You are a vital cog in the iOTW workings, making a great site even greater. Hope to be here bitching and cracking wise with you for a few more years. Oh, and FJB with a pine cone.

  6. What a relief. I thought I had accidentally wandered into a BLM “protest” – but it turned out to be a test of the candles on your birthday cake.

Happy birthday and many, many more. Or as our President would say “beurfltzeep.”

  7. Whoa. I almost missed this.

“1. Why do I have small clam-like mollusks in my heart, anyway?”

So you can “keep clam,” Uncle Al.

BTW, you’re only 3/4 the way there. Get hot!

  8. Totaled my Volvo wagon on Monday and walked away, but feeling older today from post airbag slap in the chops. No doubt being 6 months behind you, Uncle Al, in age isn’t helping my recovery. Safety Tip #36510 don’t let the old man creep in. Anyway, wishing many happy days for you down the path ahead!!!

  9. @Gray Feather — Ouch! Sorry about that car, but very glad you’re walking. I hear you about not letting the old man creep in and I’m working at it. So far so good!

  10. I was curious so I dug out my old birth certificate from the safe and found that I officially entered the unprotected world outside the womb at 9:35 p.m. Eastern. This was back in the days before Daylight Saving Time, so that translates into 10:35 p.m. EDT.

I don’t really want to party for 24 hours, so next year I think I’ll simply celebrate by Birth MINUTE. This years, that’s coming up…

    right…

    about…

    NOW!
