HBO’s John Oliver Hit with Defamation Suit by Coal Companies

Breitbart: John Oliver is facing a defamation lawsuit filed by multiple coal companies after the HBO host lambasted the coal industry and mining company Murray Energy Corporation and its chief executive Robert E. Murray.

During a June 18 episode of HBO’s Last Week Tonight, Oliver compared Murray to a “geriatric Dr. Evil” and railed against President Donald Trump and the coal tycoon’s past business endeavors.

According to LawNewZ, the lawsuit filed by Murray and other coal companies claims Oliver’s 24-minute segment was “false, injurious, and defamatory,” and was an “attempt to advance their biases against the coal industry and their disdain for the coal-related policies of the Trump Administration.”

  1. Speaking of lambasting…

As heard on CNN at 944 EST

Jeffrey Ross Tubin, American lawyer, blogger, pundit, staff writer at The New Yorker and THE
    senior legal analyst for CNN.

“Just because you believe you are innocent doesn’t mean you get to tell people that you are innocent”

How much does top notch senior legal advice like that cost?

  2. Robert Murray doesn’t need or want any help making a bad reputation for himself, and the mines he operates. He can handle it alone.
I believe he was co-owner / operator of the Crandall Canyon mine in Utah that had the massive disaster in, I think, 2007. Which if I recall correctly, trapped six miners under ground. Several days later attempts to rescue them or recover their bodies was abandoned after 3 rescuers were killed.
