  1. That fight scene in The Godfather where he beats up his sister’s no-good husband has to be the worst fight scene ever filmed. Sonny misses him by a good 5 inches on several of those punches.

  2. I remember watching TGF with my daughter of about 11 at the time. At the time it was her first time watching it. As Sonny was at the toll booth my daughter asked “is Sonny about to die?” and I hit pause to explore what was going on in her mind. She was torn because Sonny was a ‘bad guy’ after all but at the same time Sonny was a good big brother, a husband and good and loyal son. We then resumed the movie. Since that time whenever I see James Caan in anything it reminds me of that special time with my daughter who right on the edge of child and young adult.

    May watch again tonite.
The way he takes care of the old bastard in THIEF is what should happen to every goddamn democrat in the country.

I also love him taking a cigarette break after cracking that massive safe.
    Damn.

    Rest in Peace James

  4. RIP and unlike many celebrities he kept his beliefs to himself and supported the vets via Gary Sinise’s foundation. Also his Twitter account is only full of memories posted of past movies. Class act.

  5. Liked Caan in El Dorado especially when he fired that shotgun for the first time. 😬
Maybe just partial because it was filmed at Old Tucson.

Thoughts and prayers to his family 🙏🕊️❤️

RIP James you will be missed. 😢

  6. Just watched “El Dorado”. Great film. “Brian’s Song” and “Freebie and the Bean” are my fav Caan films and of course “The Godfather”. Caan was an excellent actor. I respect his discretion. May he rest in peace.

  7. No problem, PHenry. Credit due Caan’s great acting bares repeating. That film was groundbreaking for Hollywierd.
Although, it was not unusual in the 1960s and 1970s to have friends of another so-called “race”.

  8. Funny. I was reading about Brian’s Song and it was an ABC movie that aired on that network in 1971. It became so popular that it was later released in theaters. Totally backwards.

It was voted as one of the only movies ever released that a grown man can cry after watching.

  9. Brian Song was my top pick for James Caan. Saw it in the Drive-in movie theater in the Bronx. Great movie and James Caan did an incredible job in his role as Brian Piccolo.

Great memorable movies throughout his career.

    RIP!

  10. Watch “City of Ghosts” if you want to be reminded what a great actor James Caan was in this overlooked film noir. Anyone who has ever spent any time in Southeast Asia will appreciate how authentic this movie portrayed the wreckage and ruin brought about by decades of war, and the characters that washed up in these forsaken places.

    Godspeed, Jimmy Caan.
