New Mexico AG says he will not defend governor’s gun ban

JTN: New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez announced Tuesday that he will not defend Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, a fellow Democrat, in multiple filed lawsuits opposing her gun ban.

“I do not believe that the Emergency Order will have any meaningful impact on public safety,” Torrez’s letter reads. “I do not believe it passes constitutional muster.

Last week, Grisham issued an executive order declaring a public health emergency over gun violence. She suspended open and concealed carry of firearms in the city of Albuquerque for a 30-day period. more

  1. Well she was finally sued today by GOA, some concealed carry group I’ve never heard of, and a New Mexico pro gun group. This needed to be stopped in court. Otherwise peeps like Newsom would be passing EU’s every 15 seconds banning guns.

  2. When a government official is found to be violating a citizen’s constitutional rights, they should be personally liable for the legal costs incurred for defending those rights. This should apply all who violate such rights including LEO, mayors, governors, FBI, ATF, DOJ and the pretender of the US.

  3. Her effort to rob everyone in her state of the right to keep and BEAR arms reminds me of the guy that tried to rob some people and they all just sat around and ignored him until he left in defeat.

  4. The only reason democrats are opposing her is it’s too close to election. Got to keep the idiots believing they don’t really want your guns until it’s not election season and they attempt more gun grabbing laws.

  5. The left has, and continues, to attempt to impose their will upon citizens without regard for the Constitution or the will of the people. We’ve allowed their insanity and tolerated too much for far too long. They think they’ve won the entire battle and can do anything they want. People try and live their lives as best they can under oppressive taxation, destruction of the economy and overreaching executive orders / regulations. I always thought the 2A would be the straw that broke the camels’ back. As the elections near, things will get interesting. People are tired of the boot on their neck. Buckle up.

  6. Wantonly violating anyone’s civil rights by any elected or appointed official should be a capital offense. Blindfold and a cigarette at sunrise is the only thing that will curb this shit.

  7. Was this executive order just an emotional directive from the governor’s uterus or is it a test? The communists rarely do anything spontaneous so enquiring minds want to know. Certainly the only adequate response involves removing her from office immediately, anything less is a win for the communists and a green light for further constitutional abuses striking at the heart of our ability to resist their nefarious plans.
