The assumption is that Smollett paid thm.

They were to receive an additional $500 after they returned from their trip to Nigeria.

This report says the rope was purchased, not at Ace Hardware, but Crafty Beaver Hardware Store. Smollett paid for the rope.

Chicago (CBS) — Two brothers who were questioned and released by Chicago police investigating the Jussie Smollett attack did play a role in the crime.

Sources say at least one of the brothers bought the rope used in the incident at Smollett’s request. The sources also say the “Empire” actor paid for the rope, which was purchased at the Crafty Beaver Hardware Store the weekend of Jan. 25.

The brothers were paid $3,500 before leaving for Nigeria and were promised an additional $500 upon their return.

The sources say plain red hats worn by the brothers were bought at an Uptown beauty supply store and that the attack was supposed to happen before Jan. 29.

Smollett claims two men attacked him in Streeterville early Jan. 29 as he was heading to his apartment. He said they yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him, poured a chemical on him and put a rope around his neck.

Remember the list of items removed from the suspect’s apartment? It included a magazine and stamps.

What does this tell you?

It tells you that the Nigerians have taken a plea for full cooperation, which would include sending the package with the crushed Tylenol in it.

That package had letters glued to it, letters that were cut from a magazine.

How much does anyone want to wager that the amount of stamps missing from the book, that was taken as evidence, matches the amount of stamps used on the threatening letter sent to Fox?

    Using the postal service to make terrorist threats (using a powdery substance) violates
    18 U.S.C. section 1038 –
    it carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.

    (I wouldn’t be surprised if this Jussie “lynching” was to promote the new “anti-lynching bill” in Congress, now. Geesh!)

    One of Matt Christiansen’s segments (above) is of a black woman stopped for speeding. Cop is respectful and professional, but after the woman drives away she begins live video, crying and wailing about racist cops. Her video is so disturbing that folk begin calling the sheriff’s department, complaining about the racism, there. So, the sheriff releases the body cam footage — in its entirety — to counteract the charges.

    Christiansen’s analysis of the whole thing is very good, but, again, the damage to our culture, country has already been done: most people will never view “the truth.”

    We should either abolish the stupid “hate crime” concept (everything that might be a hate crime is already illegal) or we should begin charging these fakers with “hate crimes” for the hoax. …..and throw the book at ’em, some serious Paul Manafort-sized jail time.

    throw his ass in jail. Let him have maniforts’ room after he is pardoned. I read somewhere that the ‘bottle’ that is said to have contained bleach at smollet’s apartment was a hot sauce bottle. Handy size for fitting in a pocket. Hopefully they will forensically remove the stamps and se if there are any fingerprints on them. (the fbi had been ‘called in’ on this case earlier). I want to see as many nails in this thing as possible.
    And where did the money come from? Originally, that is.
