NYC Coyotes

  1. Like the Beach Boys, Coyotes get around. It was reported several years ago that a coyote was spotted in Central Park, NYC.

Maybe this one isn’t one. But they have been spotted as far northeast as Nova Scotia, where someone was attacked and bitten a few years ago. As far as I can tell, as a species Coyotes have very good survival instincts.

  2. Ferrel dog, most likely. Coyotes don’t act confused like that. They go about their business like they’re in charge. And when they do, their tails are bushy, straight out and proud.

  3. I dunno, that had the coyote look to me, ours are smaller and more dun colored but ours live in the western woods and have to work harder for food. It ought to be pretty easy living in the big city park system. I ran into a white coyote in the mountains that made me say ‘wolf’ for size but it had that triangle face and slender snout with the bushy dead acting tail on it.

  4. I think, but don’t know for sure, that the Coyotes who live in sunny So. California get around on their own freeway system. These are sunken river and creek beds that have been concreted over and are usually dry as an old bone, that might form a system of transportation for the ‘Yotes. Perhaps the only other critters that use them for transportation are sunglass wearing Terminator wanna-be motorcycle dudes who like to pretend they are escaping a huge ball of fire and a very bad robot from the future.

For all I know the Coyotes can easily travel from San Juan Capistrano to Woodland Hills and out to San Bernardino on these concrete rivers. They could make it in less time than the poor blokes stuck in heavy traffic on the 405.
