School board members on Monday are expected to reveal the names that could soon replace Richmond’s J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School.
During Monday night’s meeting, school board members will announce their top three names — narrowing their list down from the seven finalists.
The school board for months has been considering renaming the school, currently named after a slave owner and a prominent Confederate cavalry commander.
A committee was created to lead the discussions, five public input sessions were held and an online survey was conducted.

More than 90 percent of the school’s student body is African-American and the goal of the name change is to better inclusion, school officials say.
