‘Simpsons’ Creator Matt Groening : ‘People Love to Pretend They’re Offended’

DANGEROUS- The Simpsons creator Matt Groening is refusing to surrender to the leftist brigade accusing The Simpsons of promoting ‘racism’ over its Indian character, Apu.

Speaking to USA Today, Groening said that he was “very proud of some of the places the show has gone in recent years,” citing the animation studio’s efforts to highlight other artists like Don Hertzfeldt and Bill Plympton.

Asked if he thought of criticism of Apu as a stereotype, Groening disagreed. “I’m proud of what we do on the show,” he said. “And I think it’s a time in our culture where people love to pretend they’re offended.”

While many Indians, both those living in India and abroad, consider the character to be an intelligent, kind, if somewhat quirky depiction of their culture, one comedian—bolstered by a brigade of professional offense takers—has called out the cartoon for its seemingly “problematic” nature.  more

  1. I remember when the “Moral Majority” went after the Simpsons in the late 80’s/early 90’s. It actually increased ratings and was found, in polling and those with common sense, to actually be quite the cohesive and loving family, despite any dysfunction…they always stick together, family first.
People need to quit being snitpusses….it’s a f**king cartoon!
Having harped on that, I actually liked Futurama better….let the whiney bastids find some cultural appropriation in that.

  2. Groening should put up or shut up by keeping Apu and replacing Hank Azaria. Anyone can do his voice and he should forego any future royalties and return the millions he was paid from that offensive racist stereotype.

    If he’s truly sorry.
