This is the guy that black people are rioting for- an armed thug that was pulling his gun to shoot officers

UPDATE:

Twitterers are saying this guy was a respected barber and he had a CC permit.

Then why is he spinning away from them and drawing his weapon?

Are there wires touching in some “innocent” people’s heads that shouldn’t be? I would never do what this guy did if I was an innocent barber.

I will keep an open mind, but… this guy is not acting like a respected barber in the area.

I should change my headline to reflect what the Twitter people are saying –

UPDATE 2-

had a FOID (Firearm Owners Identification). had NO CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon). Two different things. The former allows for legal purchase. The latter allows for concealed carry.

This is the guy that black people are rioting for- an armed thug barber that was pulling his gun to shoot officers

ht/ all too much

~~~~~~~~~~~~
This body cam footage shows the truth, which the police released hastily because black people are rioting in lieu of this punk’s demise.
Is this a black life that matters? Really? Is that what Chicago minorities think?
Minorities in Chicago should be APPLAUDING that this armed thug, who was willing to shoot police, was taken off their streets.
If he’s willing to shoot cops he’s willing to shoot anyone, and Chicago has more than their share of handgun murders.
RIOTING HERE
  1. Barber? No wonder he got clipped….. real close shave for those officers…
    that’s….that’s it. I have long hair. Have no idea what goes on in barber shops.
  2. the citizen had his wallet in his right hand, the confrontation was initiated when the female officer approached and grabbed his arm from behind. he was cooperating with the officer to his front. you get grabbed by an unseen assailant from behind and see how YOU react. If CPD officers are this paranoid around legally armed citizens they should perhaps pursue other less psychologically challenging occupations. and YES-the citizen should definitely have avoided the response of pulling a weapon on police officers in any case.
    I hate to say it but should he survive his wounds, he may have a case of excessive force on the part of the CPD who would have better served the community by a different less lethal approach to this particular confrontation. the old saw of two wrongs don’t make a right is true. CPD’s patrol guide probably says the officers responded properly. that doesn’t make it right.
    not all men of any color are thugs just because you think they are even when the color of the apple is in the eye of the beholder.
  3. Listen, folks: the dead (?) man lived in Chicago, too. Would you walk around there without a gun — without a spare mag or a speed reloader?
    I wouldn’t.
    I don’t know why he drew on the cops, but you have frightened cops and frightened citizens…..
    ….this is what happens when the progs control the media memes: cops just want to kill innocent black boys, nyah, nyah: *Everybody* is afraid.
  4. Two female LEOs. Without sound it’s hard to tell, but why did blondie move in and grab him with her weak little hand like a person would grab a 7 year old child? She was off balance, what made her close the distance?
    Two female LEOs on the street, a disaster waiting to happen.
  5. I’m surprised chicago can find police officers (trained or not) who will work in that shithole filled with black lives that don’t matter to rahm emanuel (except on election day).
  6. There is something we all ought to keep in mind, although acting on it is nothing I’d ever recommend. Several state Supreme Courts as well as the U.S. Supreme Court have ruled that it is legal to resist an unlawful arrest, and the officers attempting such an arrest are guilty of assault. Furthermore, if the illegally acting officers threaten the use of deadly force, their victim may legally use lethal force to resist.
    As a practical matter, this is a losing proposition. The probability of a court finding that you are innocent by reason of acting in self-defense is so close to zero as makes no difference. And that is presuming the unlikely event that you survive such a confrontation to get to court at all.
    SCOTUS ref: John Bad Elk v. U.S., 177 U.S. 529 (1900)
    …where the officer is killed in the course of the disorder which naturally accompanies an attempted arrest that is resisted, the law looks with very different eyes upon the transaction, when the officer had the right to make the arrest, from what it does if the officer had no right. What might be murder in the first case might be nothing more than manslaughter in the other, or the facts might show that no offense had been committed. … Every individual has a right to resist an unlawful arrest, even up to the point of using deadly force, if necessary.
    Kindly please note: IANAL.
    EDIT addition: This Chicago video is inadequate to know what was really going on. All I can say is that the guy shot was pretty much doomed whether what he was doing was technically legal or not.
    EDIT addition #2: I am not aware of any of these decisions being overturned. If anyone knows of such a thing, please let me know.
  7. Lady In Red almost made a good point. According to the story he had a valid firearms card. Meaning he had a squeaky clean record. He was employed. He had a daughter and often took him to work with him. He did not have a CCW. Unobtanium in Chicago. Sounds like a bad story all the way around.
    Here’s what I would like to see. The next sketchy shooting of a black man, I would like to see their family reach out to the NRA instead of Al Notso Sharpton. Based on what I’m reading this would have been a great one to run past the NRA.
    6
  8. I agree, BB. We have got to break through the fear in the black community about the police.
    Police are more likely to die by thugs than vice versa.
    The NRA should — might? — help….
    I don’t know why the NRA doesn’t have a massive “Enforce existing gun laws” campaign… Gun laws are not enforced, but the progs keeping circling my home, wanting to take mine away.
    It is insane, and I am very sad. Lots more (stupid) people and cops are going to get hurt. ….Lady in Red
    5
  9. PS
    I have a AZ non resident permit. Good for most any state I would want to visit. Except Oregon. My daughter and her husband live close to the Oregon border. When we visit Oregon with them, do I unstrap. Hell no.
  10. Lady in Red
    It’s a bad situation all the way around. And what’s caused the problem is GUN CONTROL. If you want to clean up Chicago in 3 or 4 months, everyone carries. All of a sudden those back shooting, drive by cowards aren’t so brave if leads flying back at them. I’m feeling bad for this kid. He should have grab hs daughter and moved to Montana.
    2
  11. Nah, BB. I’m not that old west gun slinging. …smile… Most folk don’t have the training, the competence.
    But, the government is NOT enforcing *existing* gun laws. I think it was something like 70 federal indictments for illegal carry in Chicago last year. If we stopped illegal guns, the rest of us would be right fine.
    ….Lady in Red
    1
  12. “Then why is he spinning away from them and drawing his weapon?”
    Because he is being attacked by an armed criminal gang. Cops have proven themselves unfit to exercise the privilege of being armed while working for the tax payers.
    2
  13. “But, the government is NOT enforcing *existing* gun laws. I think it was something like 70 federal indictments for illegal carry in Chicago last year.”
    LIR. Yea, that’s what this kid did and you just defended him for it above. Look, any gun law is an infringement and will embolden the criminal element. Libtards joke about the old west and everyone carrying guns. And I say that’s exactly what we need. If you’re not comfortable with a gun, by all means, don’t own or carry one. If guns are part of your life, your routine, you need to be strapped.
    3
  14. “Well, BB, you are in the minority.”
    Probably. But what I say is correct and I can offer proof. Sounds like you’re siding with the Libtards on this one.
  15. Another episode of a liberal, “As the World Turns”
    …against them.
    Do not be surprised, again, as to why they riot. They are angry but instead of blaming Democrat rule for 50 plus years since LBJ they blame others.
    KAG2020
  16. No, BB. I am not. I just think that it is bizarre to want women shaking with their guns, “Don’t come any closer or I might shoot….” and blind old men and crazy, untrained kids to walk the streets of Chicago shooting the knobs of the top of saloon signs. That is all. ….Lady in Red
    1
  17. ” I just think that it is bizarre to want women shaking with their guns,”
    Ah, ok, I gotcha. I know some really good women trainers.
    However I personally think if we focus on just the male population first, that should do the job.
    2
  18. Brad….. I’m tired of this. The NRA needs to get aggressive with training folk, emphasizing *existing* gun law enforcement. Period.
    I don’t even carry, much, any more. (Once I almost carried a snub nose .38 into a meeting at the State Dept. “I have a gun in my purse,” I whispered to the guy at the metal detector machine. “Are you an agent?” he whispered back. The whole place went bonkers, had no provision for legal carry, temporary confiscation. I’ve been lucky all my life, and I don’t need a faux penis. If there’s a problem on the street or in a restaurant, I’ll let the Bad Brads of the world handle it.)
    On my hill? ….smile…. It would not be a good idea to be an unwanted bother.
  19. I’m a little late to this discussion, but it looks to me like he took evasive action while surrounded by police officers, and then reached for what appears to be a weapon. Hmmmm, I might have behaved differently in that situation. Even if he is a respected hair cutter he made a bad decision there.
    4
  20. LIR,
    You can’t carry a weapon into ANY Federal or State Government building. In any state. Those laws and Penal codes are readily available for your state. Or, take a ccw class.
    I think your heart and mind are in the right place, you just need a little push in the right direction. I can introduce you to a some women that are bad ass with a gun. Great peeps. On the long shot you’re interested hit me up.
    Know some on the job and to a man they’re all trying to make it to retirement. If it’s more than ten they’re just walking away. In some cases over five has caused them to walk away and go to other departments. Even the burbs are getting ugly with non-reporting of shootings and other things that you would think could not go unreported in the media. See previous thread.
    And BB
    I’m late to the party on this one and have way to much shit to do over the next day and a half to get the details so I’ll probably get myself in trouble posting. I bring extreme opinion and prejudice in favor of the cops in general. I’ll try to get better info later.
    That said.
    It is possible to be a resident of Chicago and get the CC license. With what little I understand and see in this thread I’d say he f’ed up big time. I’d really like to know why he thought drawing on cops was a good idea. Unfortunately we’ll never know. After I reach out to some people I’ll get back to you on the side.
    Just one more example of why I avoid going into the city at all costs…
    1
  22. BB…. I forgot the gun was there. I also almost tried to carry it onto a plane.
    When I qualified for concealed carry — in Boston, of all places — I had high score of the week at the police firing range.
    Thanks for your condescending offer. It’s sweet. …Lady in Red
    1
  23. LIR: Don’t know what NRA you are talking about, but the National Rifle Association has advocated enforcing existing gun laws in lieu of passing new ones for decades; at least since the 1960’s.
    And “faux penis”? Really?? Right out of the Bloomberg playbook.
    5
  24. Tony R…. Yes, they do, but they whisper it! Every time the progs demand MORE gun laws the NRA should fight back with:
    ENFORCE THE DAMN LAWS WE ALREADY GAVE YOU!
    It should be loud. It is not. It should drown out the progs.
    ….Lady in Red
    2
  25. Bad Brad…. FYI: in The People’s Republic of Massachusetts, of all places, if you carry a gun into a courthouse, you may check it.
    They will tag it with a number and return it when you leave. (I have done that, numerous times.)
    ….Lady in Red
  26. Lady in Red
    There was no condescending intent involved in that offer. I promise you that. 15 years ago I thought “Assault Weapons” were a waste of time, Weaver style was the only way to shoot and warning shots and carrying an empty chamber were cool. It’s been a long road and I’ve shot with some great peeps. My fav is an old MARSOC door kicker guy. Feaken guy was a wealth of why and how. I could go on. I feel I know my shit and I’ll help anybody I can.
    2
  27. LIR
    Focus on what I write. You’re wrong on the court house five ways from Sunday. Look up the Penal Codes. I offer anybody what help I can provide. It’ll cost you a plane ticket, testing you’re ability to drink, and shoot with some really cool peeps.
  28. Thanks, BB. ….smile…. I’m not up for an action movie, although I have thought about it. ….Lady in Red
    PS: I do think I should have a smallish shotgun. One that goes clunk-click. I like that noise. ….smile… Ideas?
    2
  29. One cannot resist arrest, whether lawful or unlawful. The court will decide whether the LEO has a Prima Facia case. But to resist is a crime. If the court decides that the arrest was unlawful then the arrestee will be compensated, Just as I hope Paul Maniford and Michael Flynn will be well compensated.
    4
  30. Brad…. I asked you about a shotgun. Any ideas? Clunk-clink!
    Aussie Pet is arriving on Thursday, through October. We are meandering, down to New Orleans for a wedding, up to a public television reunion (yesh, I once worked for WGBH-TV in Boston) in Boston in October.
    I don’t like west, beyond Arizona and New Mexico.
    Let me know if you come east. ….Lady in Red
    PS: I have zero idea what Pinko and Fur think about guns, although I might suspect Fur has at least one of ’em stashed. I don’t know. It is not my problem. ….smile….
    2
  31. “Brad…. I asked you about a shotgun. Any ideas? Clunk-clink!”
    If you don’t know your shit use a shot gun to clear your home. Actually one of the most dangerous things you can do by your self. If you know your shit use your pistol. If you can, get your family out safe, do so and call LE.
    To clear your home you need to be able to “Slice the pie”. Which also requires you to switch from strong hand to weak hand. I suck at it. But keep practicing.
    3
  32. Just for clarification;
    Illinois residents are required to have a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card to purchase or possess a firearm or ammunition. The cards are issued by the Illinois State Police after they have completed a Federal NICS background check on the applicant.
    If you don’t have a FOID card you cannot buy ammo or guns. The FOID does not include Concealed Carry, but you must have one to apply.
    It’s the law in the People’s Republic of Illinois. They may not know if you possess a firearm or how many firearms you own, but they know if you buy ammunition. It’s a backdoor to get around firearm registration if they choose to start confiscation.
    Certainly, when I moved from The People’s Republic of Illinois, I returned my FOID card, turned in all my firearms and ammunition before I bought the London Bridge.
    2
  33. I liked the freeze frame in the video showing the gun. I could almost hear the barbers voice…. “how did I get here? Well, to answer that question we need to go back a bit…”
    ( screen fades to black….. Then ….. ’72 HOURS EARLIER …. fade into a panning shot of neighborhood, Aretha franklin background music)
    2
  34. @catco, yea but illinois resident, within illinois, can sale to or grant to ammo all persons they want with a valid FOID card holder and not disclose it to a legal body, within the law. Your point is valid for OTC purchase, but private is still private in Illinois. AFAIK, and if I’m wrong then you’re also right all my ammo, which I never had, fell in the chicago sanitary canal.
