Described as the radical center forty years ago, Middle American Radicals (or MARS) describe, well, Trump supporters. They aren’t quite left or right in their beliefs and squarely in the middle economically. This segment of voters are motivated by the need to protect the middle class.
Unfortunately, they also tend to back 3rd party candidates like George Wallace and Ross Perot.
