Facebook ‘fact checker’ who will arbitrate on ‘fake news’ is accused of defrauding website to pay for prostitutes – and its staff includes an escort-porn star and ‘Vice Vixen domme’.
- Facebook has announced plans to check for ‘fake news’ using a series of organizations to assess whether stories are true
- One of them is a website called Snopes.com which claims to be one of the web’s ‘essential resources’ and ‘painstaking, scholarly and reliable’
- It was founded by husband-and-wife Barbara and David Mikkelson, who used a letterhead claiming they were a non-existent society to start their research
- Now they are divorced – with Barbara claiming in legal documents he embezzled $98,000 of company money and spent it on ‘himself and prostitutes’
- In a lengthy and bitter legal dispute he is claiming to be underpaid and demanding ‘industry standard’ or at least $360,000 a year
- The two also dispute what are basic facts of their case – despite Snopes.com saying its ‘ownership’ is committed to ‘accuracy and impartiality’
- Snopes.com founder David Mikkelson’s new wife Elyssa Young is employed by the website as an administrator
- She has worked as an escort and porn actress and despite claims website is non-political ran as a Libertarian for Congress on a ‘Dump Bush’ platform
- Its main ‘fact checker’ is Kimberly LaCapria, whose blog ‘ViceVixen’ says she is in touch with her ‘domme side’ and has posted on Snopes.com while smoking pot

For 15+ yrs when I received emails with snopes as proof/verification, I replied by sounding the alarm on these frauds. People just ignored the facts about the fact-checkers so I chalked this up to unwitting purveyors of propaganda.
BTW – who knew David Mikkelson was Stephen King’s twin?
Fake, Fake Fact checkers …. sounds like main stream media and journalists to me, they’re all well paid puppet whores of the left.
I don’t know how I’ve survived without fakebook. Sure, there are occasions where someone posts a link and I can’t see the content because I don’t have a login. But I still survive and 9/10 times I can find the content where it was originally published before someone added to their wall.
Shouldn’t the public have a say in who is filtering its news?
I mean shouldn’t there be an open selection process with maybe a comment period?
Why is Facebook’s selection process so completely tainted that it looks illegitimate before it even starts?
Shouldn’t such a large and important company be capable of something much better?

I don’t have an account but know lot’s of people who do and am always being shown or told of things put on it by friends and family. many people want others to think they have ideal lives when in fact they are miserable,depressed and out of control in many ways. but boy they look good on Fakebook!

I’m retired and looking for something part time to do with my free time– I can write any type of news that pays a fair wage, and at the end of each article I will put in a disclaimer saying I am not responsible for the words or opinions because I am not a whore who’s brains have been F—ed out or a pot smoker who likes to keep his mind out of the clouds. ( I am not responsible for the words I just wrote-I have been coming to this site way to long to know any better )
Sounds about right for the progressives to hire them. I venture into FB occasionally and I don’t think I have ever regarded it as a place to get my news.
What I would like to see is author disclosure and transparency. After the writers name, list where he went to school, party affiliation, all past and current association with politicians or political organizations, etc. This could be done in a simple, abbreviated format.
I call the AP the “All Progressive” wire service. The number of political hacks and shills masquerading as journalist under the AP label is mind numbing. Some form of disclosure may help.
