Washington, D.C. — The House Freedom Caucus released the following statement on the American Health Care Act:
“Over the past couple of months, House conservatives have worked tirelessly to improve the American Health Care Act (AHCA) to make it better for the American people. Due to improvements to the AHCA and the addition of Rep. Tom MacArthur’s proposed amendment, the House Freedom Caucus has taken an official position in support of the current proposal.
The MacArthur amendment will grant states the ability to repeal cost driving aspects of Obamacare left in place under the original AHCA. While the revised version still does not fully repeal Obamacare, we are prepared to support it to keep our promise to the American people to lower healthcare costs.
Not knowing what’s in it (we have to pass it, to see what’s in it) I’m disappointed that this might be worth accepting for the time being. I would have liked to go to war against obamacare and won in a single battle. Maybe that can’t be done. President Trump continues to have to fight the libs, the media, and the rinos. He is still winning, I think.
Litmus test. Does it give employers foreseeable relief. If yes, pass the damn thing and get on to tax cuts.

As a system, Obamacare is kinda like brain cancer. Once it has become fully entrenched, it is very difficult to totally remove without killing the organism to which it is attached. This is not to say it can’t be done, but delicate surgery will doubtless be required.

Fast forward to December 2009, immediately before the ur-Tea Party state of Massachusetts expressed the nation’s displeasure with Obamacare by electing a Republican to the Senate. That’s when the Senate took a bill giving benefits to members of the military who were first-time homebuyers and, as George Will put it recently, “‘amended’ this bill by obliterating it.” Harry Reid renamed it and replaced its entire contents with the ACA.
