I’m sure of this rule, but it must be that she was completely out of the field of play when she made the catch. I’ve seen guys make a catch at the fence and had their momentum take them over the fence. I guess I’ll need to check the rule.

This is a home run. You can catch a ball and fall over a fence and it is an out. You cannot catch a ball when your body is fully outside fencing. That includes fences for foul territory.
Since both of her feet are past the imaginary line of the fence (extending upward) when she makes contact with the ball, this catch is no good.
Interestingly, if her feet were inside the imaginary line of the fence when she caught it, it would be an out. If it wasn’t the 3rd out, any runners on base would advance one base.
This prevents players from jumping into the stands and waiting to catch a foul ball or a homerun. The outfield fence is the same as foul territory fencing.

Her feet appeared to be in the field of play to me, so it’s an out from my perspective….I know….We can get Angel Hernandez to clear it up or probably not….

I’d call it a Ground Rule Home Run. Maybe.
Never played on a team. Was to committed to other sports. However, all my kids played. And even I know that’s a home run. OB.

I’m fine with whatever they called it on the field. But with the video replay, the reality is it’s a home run. Her feet were past the fence when she made contact with the ball.

Also, the other thing that sinks her– the ball makes contact with the ground before she secures it.

to me, the trailing leg appears to be in the field of play and the ball is firmly in the glove as it hits the ground….LET’S PLAY TWO!!!!

The ball cannot touch the ground. It’s not a catch if the ball touches the ground. No such thing as firmly in the glove as it hits the ground.

If there had been an actual wall there she might have had an out but that snow fence is short and not solid.
